No idea what kind of offense that James Madison plays. But thinking SL wants someone who runs or has run the Air-Raid, but I do like his connections(or at least his history of playing in TX) along with him being from Houston..

Another guy to watch is the OSU former OL Coach that got dismissed... was a top 10 recruiter in 2016 right behind Traylor(The former UT coach)

JMU Offense

https://jamesmadison.rivals.com/news/what-will-jmu-s-offense-look-like

Googled JMU offense and the article popped up. Don't know why the link says offsides and page doesn't exist. Just googled it again and it pulled right up.

Any idea why he was dismissed

OSU wouldn't say why but it is reported that Gundy was upset with recruits flipping last minute from OSU to UT and AM.. which doesn't make since he was in the top 10 Big12 recruiters the year before(2016) and their was their 1st or 2nd(don't have the rankings up). I'll post here links here, but he coached in the NFL for 2 years.. and then has 8 years in the SEC and Big 12. Also, I'm not to worried about him as a recruiting becaue AM has turned out multiple 1st rd picks and UT was in need of OTs under Herman.

http://247sports.com/Coach/Greg-Adkins-600

https://www.google.com/amp/m.newsok.com/article/5536880/amp ( this is the article about why he was dismissed, but it has a few interesting things in it such as:)

Adkins' impact won't soon be lost among remaining members of the offensive line. His 2016 signing class included junior college transfer right guard Larry Williams, a five-game starter before season-ending surgery, and a trio of promising high school talents — Teven Jenkins (Topeka, Kan.), Matt Kegel (Chaska, Minn.) and Dylan Galloway (Coppell, Texas).

Article goes on to say that he was making 355k... which was nearly double what Davis was making.. I'm guessing with the payout/buyout from OSU it would be similar to what Mainford has/had.

I think that it helps a lot in C-USA if you have a background and history, and his with the NFL and SEC/Big12 along with his experience in the Air-Raid.. I'm also going to guess but would think if he was at OSU he has some connections already in TX, and a lot in OK(which SL seems to like).. I got information or anything, I was just searching and saw Adkins was dismissed is all. I'm also hoping with WB now in charge, we can see a bump in coaches pay as well. Would be a very solid investment with the # of young OL that we are bringing in.

Would now be the time to hire a regional HS coach??

For OL you need a Coach with experience at a higher level than high school. A high school hire for OL would in my opinion be like Mendoza as DC.

I agree with @BTG_Fan1 you need to hire proven coach, time for a HS hire is at RB or TE see Claud Mathis at SMU, or Traylor from UT.

I could see us hiring someone like this.

P5 Offensive Quality Control or Analyst

Has coached OL on the FCS or JC level

Has Air Raid and Texas ties.

Yes, someone in that mold.  When he was  at Tech I'd wager we lost more than a few coveted recruits.

Bet he'd also have no problem helping our current staff sell Apogee, the Mean Green  Village, apparent new Indoor Practice Facility sooner than later & 30,000 co-eds in Denton,Texas, America.

?Folks, we are not some chopped liver school located in some backwater outback.

We can talk all day about how much money to pay the assistant coaches and I agree they need to be paid more. But the way to get more money is to start filling the 30,000 seats at Apogee. Win or lose, we need to fill those seats. We can't keep charging it to students tuition.

Here are 2 more guys to look at

Lees Hays from Texas Tech. this was tweeted at GMG.com.. Hays was apparently let go/dismissed because of the OL was influx with multiple kids leaving/ kids retiring. So guessing there would be some part of a buyout(?). Hays has a long bio in coaching throughout the state of TX, and was a former Marine.

http://lubbockonline.com/sports/2017-01-21/deshaun-foster-lee-hays-leaving-tech-coaching-staff Hows coached for 20 years and all 20 have been within the State of TX. West Texas AM, AM Kingsville, Baylor, Houston, Tarleton, and Tech.Sounds like they only kept Hays around till now because they had 4 early-enrollees along the OL show up and they didn't wanna lose them. Hays was making 210k, so basically what Brad Davis was making as well.

Brandon Jones was at Tech when Leach was there. I think he was a GA with Leach, because his 24/7 profile has him as a OL Coach first at Sam Houston St, then East Carolina, then at Cal.

Here is the list of kids he has recruited. Also, it shows he is still at Cal, but I checked there staff and doesn't show up..

Guys, I think Littrell has this one handled and has plenty of options from which to pick.  He found a SOLID dude the first time around and had nothing to sell him, now he's got a solid class of OL and an improved team with a semi experienced QB and a phenomenal backfield to sell as well.

Replacement?  A Texas HS recruiting goat ropin' son of a gun!

All is fair in love & war so just steal one from one of our competitors.

If we're interested, we could probably take UTSA's OL coach.  They only pay him $80k, we were paying Coach Davis $150k.

Where are you getting the 30k co-ed number from? We have right at 38k students, so that seems a bit high.

Yes, included the world largest university primarily for women--Texas Womens University.

Got it understand. The last time I was on TWU campus, I saw more male students than female. I wonder what the ratio really is. I would guess 15% guys?

Some of us remember when Texas A & M College was all male & TWU was all female & Aggies came up to Denton en mass.  Of course, I was a kid when all that took place, but a cousin who graduated from TWU in the early 60's told me about those days.

I think TAMU went co-ed about 1965 & TWU a few years later.

I thought TWU was still all female undergrad.
