Off topic, but why doesn't NT at least announce their soccer signings on signing day.   Not near the interest as football, but overall a much better program.   Only reason to delay is that they think the soccer and other sports recruits would be overshadowed by football.   I just don't think this sends the right message at all.

I covered women's soccer for a full season with the NT Daily. Headlund doesn't care about any of that. He avoids any publicity possible. He doesn't particularly like interviews or pageantry. Don't get me wrong he always treated me with respect but literally if I wasn't waiting between the field and his office I wasn't getting an interview on game day. I had from the time he started walking until the time he got to the door.

Good insight, if any coach at NT deserves having his way, it is Headlund.

However, I think this is more of an AD decision.   Baker is new to this, but generally they space out the non-football signings over weeks for some reason.

It seems to me that is a disservice to players, parents and fans.  Old news is old news, I really don't see what is gained by purposely withholding that information whether it is a day or more.

If you look back over the last few years, there's usually a way after the fact drop of who joined the roster. Never have i seen them announced as they come in, other than on twitter by the player themselves. John doens't care about anyone's evaluation of his program other than his own. While the AD can push him to do more of this, John is more than likely going to get his way, in my experience. He's a great coach, I'm glad we've had him for this long.

100% correct.  I have known John since his days coaching the UNT Men's program and coaching in Club Ball.  This is John Hedlund...take him as he is...he knows how to coach and recruit soccer.  Never was...never will be a media guy and does not care about anyone else's opinion of his coaching or his team.  I always find it interesting when he agrees to be one of the coaches attending the summer Coaches Caravan events. He and the current long time coach at A&M (G Guerrieri)) used to coach the men together here at UNT.  John was offered various head coach and assistant coach positions on men's teams when the UNT men's programs was AXED.  He chose to stay at UNT and coach the women's team.  I am glad he did...he's a winning coach!

And the Arkansas transfer scores the game winner this past weekend in Waco to beat the Baylor Bears 2-1...great pick-up! BU finished 3rd in the Big12 last fall - pretty solid win for the Mean Green!
