ok i will go with that, but why are 0-January.  Close does not count in the win column.  If we made FT, if we made more 3 pointers, if we were better on defense, if we rebounded better, etc, etc. He is not getting the job done, I know he trying to get a contract extension.   There is always next year, next game, next week.

Oh he also liked shooting from half court for funnies. But he drained more than half of them. 

He actually was really generous when we played. Trying to get everyone involved because we are on the sucky level compared to him. It was fun. He is a good guy.

That's awesome. Man, he practically did that on the court against D1 athletes his first season. He covered so much ground so quickly, both horizontally and vertically. Good times.

Also got a ton of goaltending calls. I really think that was because Sun Belt refs weren't used to seeing those kinds of plays.

Also, yes those were some really fun times.

Yeah. He physically and skill-wise something I have never seen before. 

He also played on my intramural football team. Most of the guys did. I would just throw it up to what looked like 15 feet in the air (exaggerating) and like some beast he would jump up over everyone and get it. It made for lots of laughs and a lot of 'oh come on!' from the other team. They were good guys and got a long well. That was JJ's last year. The next, was a very different story.  

One time I had him in my office because some alcohol was found. He wasn't of legal age but I knew it wasn't him either. He took the fall for it and claimed it was his because he wanted to protect other players. I didn't do anything because the incident wasn't a big deal at all. But I did think it was cool that he was willing to take the responsibility for it even though it wasn't for him to take. 

I actually have a few funny stories of the players, and not the players that are always fun to reflect on

      What is this program missing?

      Simple. UNT has never won the conference and doesn't have a signature win that captured the nation attention. No 2-10 Arkansas doesn't count. UNT also needs a Heisman Candidate to be the face of the team. It was ALMOST there with Mason Fine but it was squandered, opportunity after opportunity keep being missed. Until UNT has a marketable face of the team, actually take down P4 opponents and win the conference, the same story will keep repeating itself. UCF had Blake Bortles take them to the Fiesta Bowl and a big run followed by Milton McKenzie beating Auburn. Boise had Kellen Moore, Jared Zanbranski and others followed with wins over Oregon, Georgia, Oklahoma, etc. Cincinatti had a 14-0 run to the Sugar Bowl followed by back to back undefeated runs with Desmond Ridder. Houston had a great 2011 run with Case Keenum where we beat UCLA and Penn State in a January Bowl Game. In 2009 we beat #5 Oklahoma State and Texas Tech back to back. In 2015 with Greg Ward Jr, we went 13-1, beat Louisville, Vanderbilt, ranked Navy, ranked Memphis, ranked Temple in the AAC Championship and Florida State in the Peach Bowl 2016, we had Ward back and Ed Oliver and beat Top 5 Oklahoma and Top 5 Louisville on National TV.

      I’m saying after watching primarily bad North Texas football for going on 27 years, that I’m pretty confident we’re not building a championship calibre program here. I know he’s not going to be let go but I think we’re probably wasting our time and continuing to jade our fans. Would love to be wrong on this. And in the time of NIL/Transfer Portal mercenaries, I think you can make a change pretty much when you want and rebuild a roster. Again, we’re not gonna do it, but we could.

      Right now, on the coaching front, we are missing everything except a running backs coach.
