And what you aren't getting is missing on 3 stars is detrimental to your team.

You are acting like these 2 stars were saviors. They weren't. The team was awful during that time period. That's what happens when you miss in recruiting

Again, you are missing MY point. The point you keep making is YOUR'S.  Don't like mine?  Fine but don't try to change my post to meet your agenda.

Well, he wants UNT to drop a classification. He doesn't want better scheduling.

What would you call it?

Man, it was absolutely ideal around here before you showed back up.

Of course it was. No one questioned anything. Just the way you like it.

Guys, the bottom line is that I see no difference in the quality of recruits under our current coaching staff than precious ones. And, just to state again, D.1 football will split between P5 and G5 schools , just like high school classifications. The P5 will be D1,G5 will be 1A, and 1AA will stay the same. That is why, in my opinion, the best way for UNT to survive without T.V. money is to reduce expenses by creating a more regional conference to reduce travel costs. In my opinion, there is little if any difference between CUSA and the Sun Belt, so the most logical solution if you agree with me is to reconfigure these conferences.

I don't think he WANTS that drop to happen. I think he's saying that when it does, it's not the same as when we VOLUNTARILY stayed down at a lower classification when we didn't have to for 12 freaking years, causing us to play podunk schools that very few people cared about in Texas, while the SWC and Big Eight were at the top of the NCAA totem pole during our coma.

Just to be clear, I don't want to drop, either. I want us to be as great as we can and play in a conference with teams that can bring fans and media attention to our program. But without wins over teams that people care about across the country, no conference above us wants us. Yes, a lot of that is due to our ineptitude, but a lot is due to being considered the low guy on the DFW ladder. That I-aa fiasco cemented that fact for many other conferences above ours, so without winning against teams that people care about, we are just stuck below SMU and TCU.

So, without your colossal "the small guys beat the big guys in a court ruling", the Big XII's demise in 2025 (if not before), will cause a massive realignment that I believe will cause the Power Teams to pull away for good. When that happens, the SBCUSA schools will have to realign geographically, like the MAC has done. So unless, we get into the MWC and the AAC, which will just wait until the Big xii falls apart, allowing them to add in TCU, Baylor, ISU, and KSU if they want, we are left out. And I just don't see how that ends well for us or any other CUSA school. Doesn't mean i want it, but it seems like the very likely scenario that I see happening. The hard part to know is what it will do to our fan support--if it will just drop suddenly because we aren't FBS anymore or if we will still get the same support because we are playing schools people recognize and teams that are close enough to bring fans to Denton.

Thank you.

You also have to realize that the P5 is doing it's best - the the NCAA going along with it - to further separate itself from the G5.

The arms race began while we were wasting away at I-AA.  No need to rehash Georgia/OU vs. NCAA (and TV networks).  It was 1984; we were already not on their level.  Then the TV contracts, then the stadium expansions, then the facilities expansions, then the coaching staff salary increases.

We've always been behind.  We didn't climb out of the hole I-AA hole until 1995...13 years after the court decision that set the arms race in motion.  We've never been a part of it.  Never.

Did we install some new bleachers at Fouts?  Yes.  But, that was it.

It doesn't matter now.  We are where we are.  And, so we need these coaches to coach up whomever they can sign.  We will not compete for better recruits with this coaching staff.  I'm sorry.  Having seen and heard Littrell a few times now...he just doesn't have the energy or personality to pull it off.

He's a good coach, to be sure.  But, he's not a Cult of Personality type to get recruits and their families all jacked up about coming to a school with little football success. It doesn't matter that people think he's smart for using twitter and such.  Everyone already uses twitter and has their own coach websites.  It's not earth-shattering stuff.

At the end of the day, recruits can see who has been winning and who has been losing.

With us, it's the same as it's always been:  The remedy is consistent winning.  If we don't have consistent winning, then all the other talk about attendance, schedules, uniforms, and other side issues is nothing more than pissing into the wind.
