You offer knowing that he will most likely end up at one of the larger schools... at least to begin with.

How many kids have we had that went to a "larger" school and didn't like it?

You offer so that if that happens and he doesn't like Oklahoma or Notre Dame, he remembers that we offered in the beginning.

You sometimes end up with a quality safety or wide receiver that way.
