Texas House Expected to Approve Direct Pay
Texas House poised to allow universities to pay athletes | The Texas Tribune Texas’ current laws allow outside entities, like national advertisers or athletic boosters, to pay student athletes, but prohibit universities from paying them directly. House Bill 126, filed by Rep. Carl Tepper, a Lubbock Republican, would lift that restriction. Rep. Barbara Gervin-Hawkins, a San Antonio Democrat, said her concern was about young people suddenly having access to large amounts of money with few guardrails. She proposed that Texas require NIL money to be put into a trust fund that student athletes would only access after at a certain age, -

Where do we go from here?
I think our overall game attendance has actually grown a lot compared to what it was 10-15 years ago, back in our Sun Belt days, and before, etc. Better conference, better known teams. The ADs have not done a good job getting more students to attend sports, and the city of Denton seems as aloof as ever that UNT even has college sports. -

Teachers, musicians, and commuters are takers not givers. Any time spent soliciting them is wasted. Follow the grads who were active on campus. There lies the real source of support as alums.- 1

Where do we go from here?
I really feel like these influences come from outside the university. I feel like there’s a vision of what our university’s role is supposed to be in the overall scheme of Texas universities, and it does not include NT being a big factor in major sports.- 1

Where do we go from here?
I don't know who controls the leashes and muzzles for Athletics Admins now? Many years ago Athletics at UNT was told "hands off" from big University donors. They had to go find their own new donors. I don't see a lot of any marketing or reach-out to community or alums with Jared & Co.
