Unless Cal has something up their sleeve with a big timer guy (like Chip Kelly).

I think that's exactly what they're thinking.  But Arkansas had similar thoughts when they fired Stan Heath because they had Billy Clyde Gillespie all locked up.

I bet Houston wants a do-over right about now, and yes, Kliff just felt the temperature of his seat raise several degrees out in the wastelands.

Sonny Dykes and Berkeley were always an odd pairing from the start. But I bet our friends in Lubbock are interested if KK falls apart again this season ahead.

Falls apart again? The pretty boy hasn't sniffed a winning conference record since his hair gel got here. Lubbock should be very interested!!

Yes, definitely Sonny Dykes and Berkeley were a very odd pairing.

Absolutely. Sonny would (should) be a great fit in Lubbock.

Cal didn't take too kindly to him interviewing with Baylor so soon after signing an extension.  Sonny overplayed his stature.

I get that, but the timing for his firing was strange. Puts them in a weird bind and it means they absolutely have to land a Chip Kelly otherwise this is just weird.

In other news, Sonny Dykes was the OC for a couple of seasons while Graham Harrell was there (redshirting, and also playing). Dykes also was OC at Arizona when Seth Littrell came on as RB/TE coach there.

Since he is getting a buyout we could pay him a nominal fee to consult here. Maybe as an analyst like Alabama does. Whatever he could provide would be valuable before he inevitably gets a gig as a head man. That would be fun.

Tech owes Kliff too much money to make a coaching change any time soon.

After next season, they would only have two season to buy out f the worst contract that Tech has ever written...

Don't speak for Houston. Nobody here wanted Dykes after what happened  in 2011.

Just giong to say, with Perry possibly leaving... Wishing we could add Dykes to the staff

That'd be great for Sonny to re-connect with some old buddies (Littrell, Mainord, Davis, Harrell, Filani, etc.) as an analyst of sorts, while he collects a fat check from Cal this year. One can wish.
