Chicago's homicide rate soared in 2016: Largest spike in 6 decades

The nation's third-largest city reported a homicide rate for 2016 that topped the rate in Los Angeles and New York combined. According to the Chicago Police Department, the city saw 762 homicides last year, compared with 485 in 2015

And as usual, guns are immediately the scapegoat in the article.  Have to address the factors causing folks to want to harm others.  But it doesn't fit the narrative, of course.

"The state's lax gun laws."  That is a joke.  Illinois may have the strictest gun laws of any state not on the east or west coast, and Chicago's gun laws are downright Gestapo.

And how much time is spent in Chicago jails by people who have done nothing more than stealing a loaf of bread?
