Too bad people didn't have this same attitude when I and many of my fellow Viet Nam era military personnel brothers were getting spat upon when in uniform.  Will never ever be able to forget that experience.  I am so very proud that our nation has decided to once again honor those who serve. I fully second Plumm's thoughts.

Good point KRAM1.  That should never have happened to anyone who served in that war or any war.

True story that happened three days ago.  Picking up last minute groceries for the weekend, I was in the checkout line, and a young man, probably in his early 30's was behind me.  Sharp looking guy. He noticed I was wearing one of those Cowboys Veterans Day sideline jackets.  The young man asked if I was a Veteran, I replied yes.  He asked where I served, I told him Viet Nam, and he thanked me several times for my service.  Here's the kicker.  As the clerk was checking me out, the young man placed a $20 bill on the counter to help pay for my groceries. I politely told him thanks, but it was not necessary.  He insisted that that was his way of thanking me for my service.  I explained that I was certainly appreciative of his kind gesture, but that it was not necessary.  I was retired and certainly did not need his generous offer.  He kept insisting, I kept trying to turn him down, all the while being thankful.  I finally gave up, thanked him, and I left, stilled shocked that this event occurred.  I plan to take the $20 and "play it forward" to someone who really needs the money.

i was impressed that this young man made such a kind offer to an old Veteran.

So, to those of you going to the game tomorrow, if you see a Cadet, thank him for his service to our country.  They will appreciate it more than you will ever know.  I certainly did at HEB.  45 years after I served in Nam.

Not wanting to get too ridiculously  warm & fuzzy, but hope our fans will even give the Army football team polite applause when they enter the Cotton Bowl & then...

...when the game begins pull out all the stops of showing them which team is--✳️OUR TEAM!✳️
