17' DL Zack Semrak; Southlake Carroll

Saw a lot of good to great basketball teams in the Snake Pit.  Unfortunately, we were not one of them.

I hate the way Southlake plays defense. They just meet the OL head up and look for the ball. It takes away all of your leg drive and explosion. It seems the OL at Southlake gets to be more aggressive than that DL. I really like his teammate that just got a PWO from USC. He is a pancake machine.

I think a preferred walk on offer to a late blooming unanimous 1st team all-district 5-6A DT and member of the DFW all area team should be expected, no matter who the kid is.

Dont worry, I'm fairly sure he won't be attending UNT. Don't know that I'd recommend it to him as a walk on spot at this point, anyway.

Tell me, when others (like Cooley) have posted family friend's pages, have you made snide remarks to him, also? No?

Honestly, then this thread should not be getting bumped. You've made valiant efforts to get him recruited by this staff and the former staff, and you know posting on here doesn't do anything towards making that happen.

Wow. This kind of crap makes me want to walk away from this program completely. 

Go ahead and delete the thread if you like. Because of some people's hurt feelings toward me, they trash a 17 year old kid. 

Pathetic.

You guys will never have to worry about me trying to direct a kid to UNT again.

Nobody bashed the Southlake kid. They simply pointed out that if this kid was not a family friend of yours you would have criticized any offer made to him.

Don't worry. I will never suggest a kid be interested in UNT again. I certainly won't post about it, as those with agendas will down talk the kid.

For an example, look at Lifer's post to the Washington kid. Also not recruited, but not an all-area player in one of the most talent rich areas on the nation. Compare them to his post about Zack in the first locked thread. That has to do with is hatred of me, nothing to do with Zack's ability. And it's sad.

Zack will fine fine. He is a 17 year old kid that hasn't touched the ceiling of his ability yet. I'll follow his college playing career Where ever he ends up.

You are taking this way too personal. Lifer started this thread after the other got locked because he wanted to be fair to the kid. The Washington kids was offered nearly a year ago. He has 4 G5 offers now, several Ivy League offers, and is going to the SEC as a PWO. These aren't the same thing. Don't take offense when folks look at your friend's offer list in the same manner you looked at Mason Fine's and many other of our recruits. Your heart is in the right place but you have to understand that you can't see the kid as objectively as others because of your relationship. 

These guys aren't downgrading your friend, they are #expectingmore as you have instructed them to. You crow about offer lists for every recruit of ours except the ones you know personally. If Lifer had a friend with Zack's offer list, you wouldn't hold back your displeasure, I guarantee that.

If this staff believes Zack deserves a scholarship or a PWO offer, I trust their judgement. If he doesn't, I hope he comes in as a regular walk on and proves that he deserves a scholarship offer. If neither of those, I hope he heads to Commerce because Carthel is a good dude.

1. I wasn't snide...it was a legitimate question, though in truth given your reaction in the past to kids UNT has recruited one I already knew the answer to. Was I guess hoping you might have developed some semblance of self-awareness. That part is on me...my bad

2. If I recall, the kid Cooley posted about had some 25 d-1 offers all at programs well above our current status, not three offers from FCS programs. Also...didn't semrak just make third team in the star-telegram?

Zero contact from this staff, which is disappointing. Especially with a kid that reached out to them and had some major achievements his senior year.

If the mods want to delete or lock this thread, that's fine with me. This has ran its course.

I wouldn't downgrade the kid. All I was seeking was contact for a preferred walk on offer. Because of his late start, no one knew if he would receive any offers. Zero contact from this staff, which is disappointing. Especially with a kid that reached out to them and had some major achievements his senior year.
