I want to see more Split back Gun from us. It is Deadly.  We can run stretch either way and it still allows for 3 WR stuff.  Easy capability to swing both backs out and get a possible mis match.  This is all dependent on Wilson being healthy obviously.  Even Tucker who should be good to go makes that an option.  What I don't want to see is a bunch of stuff where we try and run up the middle, that isn't this teams strength and I can only recall 2 TD's all year that hit between the Tackles.  Most of our good run game is on the edge.   What do yall think?

I know Fine has been banged up but I wish we'd incorporate more read option in the plan as well. Not a lot, but sprinkle in on those zone plays

My list in no particular order is:

  • Limit Three and Outs
  • Some Time in the Pocket
  • Way Less Penalties
  • Manageable Third Downs
  • Limit Turnovers
  • Wilson at 100%

A snap from under center on short yardage.

Definitely this ^.

I would like to see less zone runs, much like @GMG24 was referring to. This is very difficult to successfully execute with a below average OL. it's a 1 on 1 game with our OL vs opposing teams DL. If 1 man gets beat then the play goes for a loss or a very minimal gain, at best. We have 1 man getting beat on run/pass blocking schemes almost every play.

I would like to see more 2-back sets.

I would like to see more TE's split out to help block on the perimeter runs and to catch pop routes/stand-ins. I would also like to see more H-back motions during these horrible zone run plays (if we're gonna do them, which we are; unfortunately).

Many times I feel like our players aren't put in proper position as far as offensive alignment on the outside to maintain space discipline. I feel like we cluster too much on accident how be it in our route running or in our formation alignment. We need to be spaciously sound on our alignments.

I would like to see more 1-read "pop" passes in soft coverage/zone coverage.

In short, I would like to see better play calling and see the coaches utilize their assets better. We are a pretty bad offense, so there are a lot of things I would like to see.

Since y'all asked about two back sets, h-back, zone runs, run options and whatnot

Did I miss anything?

A play we ran a lot this year, that saw many of Thaddeous' targets (spring game)

This also is where a TE would also line up (here we see Kelvin Smith) and running backs can release for a pass based on protection/what they see

The stretch play worked very well against Army earlier this season so I like that. Zone Read Stretch plays.

I want play calling where it doesnt put our QB's in a position to fail. I know this is easier said than done.

I'd love if we can start to move the ball, do hurry up because I felt like Army's Defense started to tire out at the end of the game

3. No drive killing penalties

This. Play clean on both sides of the ball. We have a hard enough time getting yardage at times, we don't need silly penalties (how many offensive PIs on a screen did we have the past few games?) holding us back when we do get positive yardage.

Edit: I tried finding a few examples and maybe I'm getting my UNT and Cowboys games confused on the offensive pass interference on a screen penalty. Seems like UNTs issue has been more with holding...

Balance.  The first time we played Army we threw almost exclusively in the first half.  In the second half we ran almost exclusively.  Army should be better prepared for our running game this go-round, so keeping them off balance will be important.

1. Yes no stupid flags, that will kill us vs someone like Army.

2.Also, being smart on defense and getting out of this hole/ sinkhole of defense that we have been in for what seems like months since our game vs. army.

3.Also, I would like to see more K.Smith used in the slot with the FB in the back field. doing this will/should help off-set Army's good/great LBs somewhat.

4. And please, Wrs not dropping the ball

5. Also, Rotate the QBs.. Morris and Fine both are equal.. Fine a bit of a better runner, but Morris has a better passing ability with him not taking a sack and tossing the ball away. Would love to see Fine used not just as a runner, but on RPO(Run Pass Options) with him having the ability to run it or pass it.. Make Army have to gameplay and prep for both QBs.

6. Bring out some trick plays like we did vs SM with the pass to Buyers and Smiley.

PS- Also, a solid last game for Keena.. If he on point, it will help our defense making Army go on long drives.

I would like to see a new QB....you know a gun slinger who can put up at lest 20-30 Touchdowns a season.

With this offensive scheme, there should be no reason why QBs can't throw 20 tds a season. I'm fully expecting this type of performance in the very near future....

So if we throw 7-10 in this game, we'll be right there!
