Indiana was beaten by 11 by WKU.  This team has a long way to go to even be competitive in CUSA.

Because one team beat a team that we lost to, all of CUSA is somehow better than us? I don't really understand this logic. It would appear that we have a ways to go before we are competitive with the top of CUSA, but there is no way that this loss has any indication of how we will perform with the conference at large unless they all beat Indiana by double digits.

It's a similar opponent logic. The idiots on the CFB Playoff Committee use this logic.

Let me explain the logic you fell to grasp.   Someone beats NT by 30 and the game was not that close.  A fellow conference member beat them by 11.   This scenario is the basis of all rankings and rating systems.  To state that this game was not an indication of how they will perform in the conference is at least, misinformed.    Any game win or loss is absolutely an indication of future play.

I assume that NT at 2-6 and second to last in the conference is not also a cause of concern.  By the way, WKU is 5-3 including a loss to UTA.  I agree they will probably be one of the best teams in the conference, but they are far from unbeatable.

Where did you get out of that comment that all of CUSA is better than NT?  Being competitive obviously means something a little different to you.  To me, it means the ability to play most of the teams in the conference close (win or lose).

NT can definitely improve and hopefully they will challenge the leaders in CUSA.  Again, the start has been far from encouraging.   There are a horde of newcomers on this team and maybe when Mitchell finds the right combination, the team will be much better.

I didn't fail to grasp anything. You are looking at a single game and declaring that because ONE other team in the conference beat the team that beat us, badly, that it means that we will not be able to play teams close. Our record is absolutely a concern and losing like we did is a concern, but we have a lot of new faces on this team and it takes time to gel. I am not going to declare the season over and that we will be blown out by most of the teams in the conference on such a limited data set.

I think we agree on what competitive means, just not that this one game and a different result for one team means that we will struggle to be competitive in the conference. There is just too little information and a lot of time before I am ready to have much of an opinion on how this team will do. I don't believe that there are that many good teams in the conference to determine already that we will struggle to play them close.

You are coming up to your own conclusions based on your interpretation of a couple of sentences.  I did not come close to stating the season is over or that most of the conference teams are going to blow NT out.

What I said was that they are going to have to get a lot better to be competitive in CUSA.   I doubt you will find many that don't agree with that statement.   In fact, other than your narrative disagreeing with my view, you seem to be saying the same thing.   "Our record is absolutely a concern and losing like we did is a concern, but we have a lot of new faces on this team and it takes time to gel."  How does that statement differ significantly from "This team has a long way to go to even be competitive in CUSA."?

Jalie hasn't nailed down her starting 5 yet.

FirstName LastName StartedGamesCnt AVGMinPlayed
Candice Adams 5 26.2000
Grace Goodhart 1 18.0000
Hannah Hopkins 2 13.0000
Kelsey Criner 7 30.7143
Micayla Buckner 5 19.8000
Terra Ellison 8 30.2500
Terriell Bradley 7 25.8571
Tosin Mabodu 2 7.5000
Tyara Warren 4 18.7500

I think the coaching staff appears to be looking for the right mixture of players.
