Keep seeing this "legalistic" statement on all of the bowl promotions coming from AD.  I get that they want to be careful, however -- is it even possible that UNT is not offered a bowl slot based on the APR and current situation?  I mean do the bowls get the right of first refusal or is there some other fine print we may be missing here?

The department later tweeted this:

Sounds a little more like it's a sure thing compared to the first tweet they put out about 30 minutes earlier.

Possibly so, Harry, but we do have a fairly good reputation as a school with a decent bowl traveling fan base if they keep us in the Southwest.

If no offer, for sure disappointment, but most on this forum are pleased that we did go from 1 win to 5.

____________

(Subliminally, get all the names of those doing the bowl pick in').?

It's not possible for us not to get a bid. They have to offer us before any other non-6 win teams. That would entail cancelling a bowl game. It's just being technical.

If so -- why not just come out and say we are excited we will be selected and we are proud that we achieved this through the APR.  I think the overly cautious routine sort of drowns out what should be a good/exciting moment for the program.

so is the team still able to practice while it waits?

Yes, I believe this was mentioned in the coach's show Tuesday night.

But right under the tweeted pic it says "If North Texas is invited...".  I still think it's a sure thing.

This is why lawyers suck.

There was fear of seeing the headline: "Local College UNTselected"

Aka the first lesson we are taught in law school.

There is a reason the marketing people write stuff and THEN it's approved by the lawyers and not the other way around!
