To heck with that noise.  Take the bowl game, celebrate the bowl game, use it as a recruiting tool.  This is a team that most expected to win 1 or 2 games.  5 or 6 is a huge change, and sets the stage for domination in 2017.

Not going to hurt that our academics (APR)  will help us get this bowl invite while others will not be able to tell recruits the same thing about theirs.

Hey!  There are some silver linings to be found with all this.  We all just had to get over the initial shock of today's loss.  I'm over it.

You think Millenials, whose average age is mid to upper 20's have enough control that they created the new bowls?

I will check heck on the executive management of ESPN, but I am guessing they are at least in their 40's or 50's.

Don't see how a generation other than those loathsome millennials could allow this to happen, but would love to be wrong. Probably too busy mourning Castro to even watch today.

If this team loses to UTEP they should turn down any bowl invite.  This is not a post-season caliber defense (or offense for that matter).

Aren't you the same guy that showed up in New Orleans, for a 5-7 team that lost the bowl, all pimped out in a fuzzy lime green jacket etc. For half of that season you were calling for Dickie to be fired even with your good buddy Ramon Flanigan as OC.

The best thing that has come out of this thread is the return of El Guapo.

Take the offer if it comes.

I was on that charter bus back from Monroe... a lot of people were calling on Dickey to be fired.

So those calling to turn down the bid, would want to punish the kids for have a great season few expected, for working hard and getting it done in the classroom? seems  logical

God forbid UNT ever catch a break. All you ever hear on this forum is how UNT continually gets "jobbed".

The one time they don't get jobbed and actually qualify based on the rules, and folks want to bitch about it.  Ridiculous .

Preach on brother preach on !!!

I was also on the bus. The Casino stop on the way paid for my trip. We ended that season with a loss to a Troy team that was in transition to FBS. The bowl trip was great fun and I think the extra practice time, even though we lost the bowl, ultimately paid off in my opinion.

Why do people think its shocking for teams to accept 5-7? Most every school will accept it because of the practice time alone... Herman will want the bowl game because of the extra practice time to put in his system at a start, and let him judge the talent level that they have as well... Also, it will give him time to judge some of the talent of the coaches he has as well.

Will he have a staff ready in time or just use the one in place? It sure would be fun to see Texas swallow their pride and play in a bowl with a 5-7 record.

We will go and we should, we get exposure and more practice. Still great improvement from last year. I knew El Paso would try to be the spoiler, why wouldn't they it would be their bowl game, I can't believe we thought it would be otherwise or at least played that way.

Other programs that replace their HC like UT is, will have one of the current coaches fill in on an intern basis and coach it.. which I would expect for UT to do, but honestly its a great time for Herman to atleast get the players at least introduced to the new playbook... but I think think it would be stupid for Herman to relieve the UT OC of his job with a Freshman QB and his first yr at the school, the problem with UT was defense

Wren already said we would accept the bowl game...

Also, Wren wasn't the AD and Missouri turned down the offer because Picknel I believe retired/quit because he had cancer as well..

I'm aware of that but just saying that his last stop didn't go last year and they were offered.
