They're demoralized at the thought of losing their coach, or they quit on him.

They're back in it.  Greg Ward is special, 34-30.

NCST@UNC has gotten close again, UNC within 7 in the 4th.

And he wouldn't have to put up with Texas boosters.  Take that job and the leeches start draining you immediately.  I'd take the lsu job too.

No kidding...I wonder how long before someone at UT implements some internal policies to chill everybody the hell out there. I would attribute their recent slide to that pressure as much as, if not more than, any of the other relevant factors.

I wonder how much Hermans vlaue has shrunk with the losses to SMU and Memphis. Given that Houston will likely try to increase his salary, I can even see him staying. If you are UT, are you really gonna pay 6 million or so for a guy who has been a head coach for all of two seasons and who is trending down?

LSU went with Herman. Herman went with UT. Then LSU settled for Orgeron. IMO, horrible decision.

Which one?

Speculation at this point. Only the LSU decision seems firm at this point. We know Herman and UT are feeling each other out but don't know if they are firm on each other

Not exactly.  LSU met with Herman Thursday and they moved toward a deal that they expected to announce by today (Saturday).  When they reached out to his agent to finalize the deal he was "playing games" (LSU's words).  So they moved on.

In short, they saw how UT got played by Saban just a few yeats ago and had no interest in going down that path, regardless of whether he ultimately signed with LSU or not.  They have the difficult task of building a program in the toughest conference in football to worry about...no time for courting prima donnas.

My prediction: UT will overpay for another coach who will get them close, though not quite to, a championship level.  Of course, he'll have a lot of time to recruit this year without a bowl game to prepare for.

Word I saw is Herman told LSU at 5 AM this morning that he was leaning towards Texas.

All right. Thanks for your time, Coach. Pack up and head to Texas because we've got work to do in your wake.

One source is saying Dana Holgorsen to UH is a possibility.  I'm not sure if that's realistic, but it would be a huge coup.

No coach in his right mind is leaving a decent B12 team for a G5 team.
