Again this just shows how little understanding the media has of the G5 bowls.  The Hawaii Bowl charter grants an automatic bid to Hawaii if they become bowl eligible and will always take it unless they get an invite to the CFP.

Since 1999 Hawaii has gone to a bowl game 8 times.  Seven of those times they play in Aloha Stadium, the lone exception is when they got an invitation to the BCS Sugar Bowl.

That and I've seen some showing us not making a bowl while showing other potentially 5-7 teams with a lower APR ranking getting in.
