  1. 1. Should the cheerleader have won the golf cart raffle?

    • Yes - they deserve a chance to participate as much as anyone

    • No - they should not allow organizations affiliated with the AD to participate

I'm cool with it, because I don't have any place to keep the darn thing.  If the cheerleaders got more tangible benefits from their work for the AD, maybe I could see a problem.  Was the raffle very well publicized?  I haven't been keeping up, so just wonder.

If it is a raffle, I imagine she had an idea. Father, grandfather, mom who knows. I have a few different friends that have lake houses and use golf carts to run from the house to the docks and back. We used them on our airport in NY and several people have them at area airports.

It is my understanding that the cheerleaders are no longer funded by the athletic dept....they are now funded by student service fee money.  So, technically, they are not part of the athletic dept.

Love our cheerleaders but should the raffle for the golf cart been open to any part of the AD?

Any organization that sells raffle tickets, should be exempt from winning for the very reason were talking about it. The appearance of impropriety  I thought it very strange as well..

I have mixed feelings about it.

"They" came riding through the red/blue lot asking for people to buy tickets for the raffle.  It was the first I head of it, and my general thought was "what would I do with it if I won it?.  I'm guessing the choice of prize was supposed to appeal to bigger donors, who might be more likely to be avid golfers.

When and where did they sell tickets?  I would have like to have bought one.

They were out at tailgating for every home game. They would have loved to sell you a ticket and calendar.

Cheearleader, generally, are pretty, but not highly paid or reimbursed.  They are like student who volunteer their time to pep up the fans and whatnot.  They don't get the scholarships like athletes, do.

So, to me, if student could enter, then it was fine to have the cheerleaders enter.

And, these cheerleaders have spent many a Saturday cheering to empty seats.  So...look at it as kind of a reward for perseverance as well, if you will.

I haven't missed a NT game at APOGEE and the announcement of the winner was the first time I'd ever heard of a drawing.  A pretty cheerleader walking through the stands and into the Club Level could probably have sold lots and lots of tickets.
