Did you watch homecoming?

Yes...made me physically ill watching how bad they are. I get as a G5 we get entry level, but don't they at least have to pass some kind of exam or vision test!!!

I guess they didn't have to take any exams when they were recruited from local YMCAs.

Did anyone else notice that it appeared to be largely the same lame crew from Homecoming? I thought I recognized three of them.

Honestly, what I did notice is that it seemed like the conference office called down and said, "You owe these guys one."

I saw a lot of the same penalties called at homecoming, only this time they went in our favor.

But then again, this was an "I ubered to/from the game" weekend, so I may not have been as astute on the details.

Yes.  The female started on our sideline and ended on theirs.  She threw a flag for defensive holding when Buyers was blocking the corner and Alec threw it into the 4th row of the student section.  She and the rest of her crew were TERRIBLE.  Glad we got the win, regardless of the officials.

I don't think that's the same female ref.

LaTech crew:  Tra Blake, Dongray Johnson, Jerry Harris, Nick Theriot, Christ Bynum, Victor Sancehz, LaShell Nelson (The horrible Side Judge), James Jones

Southern Miss crew: Dan Gautreaux, Ben Young, Maia Chaka (The female ref for this game), Thomas Eaton, Larry C Neal Jr, Justin Larrew, Lark Jones, Kevin Randall

So there's more than 1 crappy crew ?????

Chaka Khan could have made better calls! I think Jones just changed his name on a lark..

One thing I saw on the first offensive play of the game was Maia Chaka running in to tell our LT to get on the line of scrimmage.  Later, both the HL and the LJ called us for illegal formation.  That is not on them, it is on us.  It is an advantage when the offensive linemen don't have to be on the line of scrimmage.  If you have an inside receiver with his feet on the same line as the offensive tackle, either both are on or both are off.  How hard is it to line up right?

I would have liked to have this crew in San Antonio.  They at least called So. Miss for the pick route.  If we get that call in San Antonio, I think we win that game.

The BJ in the middle of the field was the worst.  There isn't any way he should call pass interference on contact that occurs outside the numbers.  Fish in your own pond.

Don't get me started with OL lining up in the backfield no ref I've ever had calls that or OL downfield on RPO or screens. It's bullshivick.

We benefited from a couple linemen downfield though. Overall CUSA officials have been very disappointing but only the latech crew so far has felt like we got a raw deal

No argument here.

I am beginning to think the refs working our games are paid by the number of penalties called per ref rather than by the game.
