I don't expect the beat writer to waive Pom poms for our teams or coaches but it is tiring to constantantly read about the failures of this coach. Let's just see how things pan out.

I'm looking forward to much more competitive games from the men and women.

The key to Benford's future is Benford.   Benford, IMO has put together a squad that could be very good.    The question as always with Benford, is can he improve his coaching enough to facilitate a championship caliber team.  Combs will be good as he as always been.

Anyone, and there are way too few that have taken the time to view Benford, should know he is not the same totally unprepared and bad coach he was the first year.   However, he still has not demonstrated that he as progressed close to the level needed to compete at this level.

Benford has put together the talent to win, the question is can he lead it.

After what I saw last night, not even the awesome Combs will be able to save his job.

If Combs is indeed hurt - and it appears he is - if he can get healthy,  it may be premature to write this team off just yet.

Will he be able to get to 100% while playing a lot of minutes in games? If he is truly playing hurt (and it sure looks like it), then it would be best to rest him to get him back healthy before conference play.

The question is why is like a quarter of the team banged up and injured before the season even started...

Bingo! Probably working tremendously hard in practice (to the point of injury) on Benford's always strongly touted "defense" that never materializes.

Hockey-like substitutions cause injuries...
