I think Newell improved greatly on the defensive side and toughness at the rim side, from where he started the season.
His downfall is being out of control with the ball, lack of scoring down low and missed free throws. But 6-9 gets a scholarship most places, including UNT. I'm fine with him back on the roster, but would like to compare 6-9 options for being a starter.
UTA is already in this situation.....no football and the WAC may disband, leaving them on the hunt again for another conference that doesn't require members to have football.
what did you notice in that video?
1. Wren may be in better shape - good for him. He did well at NT. I bet West Virginia doesn't have the food or atmosphere that Texas does, so ...
2. hey, it's WV but the facilities were nice. That is a big pull for coaches and kids alike.
3. take our ego out of it. everyone on this thread wears green. But NT needs alumni and fans to step up. I came up from Austin to see the Furman game .. turned out fine, but we should have had 2x that many at that game. Great environment. A strong base = excitement = funding = facilities .... snowball effect. The opposite can happen as well.
There was never going to be any. It already fell out of the national news cycle.
This goes into UNT sports lore alongside Black Jersey gate, Portland State Homecoming, Baseball coming soon, voluntarily going to FCS and let me know what else I'm forgetting.
