As we are dealing with a undersized  freshman qb we also have a freshman OC? The first 3 series were terrible QUIT THROWING THE MID RANGE FADE OR OUT! has there been one this season that has stayed in bounds? Can we not hit a quick slant to the slot. Slot play which is one of your playmakers has been non existent!

It seems his best throws are mid range hooks or crossing patterns get him in a rhythm to start the game!  It is obvious to me that Fine is pressing based off he poor throwing decisions. The Army game could of easily been picks on his 2 deep completions but both the DBs fell!

This truly was a game from the past. UTSA stack the box and see if the qb can beat you.

If you look at yardage and the situation the D was put in I think they played well for 50m.

Kelvin Smith (in that slot role) is easily the most underutilized player on the team. Good things happen when he touches the ball. This staff is about on my last damn nerve. They are running simple zone schemes with Wilson and betting the house on that. If he goes for a buck fifty then we win. If he doesn't then this offensive staff is just standing around playing slap dick on the sideline. Put some creativity in your schemes and game plans. Personnel packages blow. Play calling is garbage. We can't just hope on a mf whim that J Wilson is going to flirt with 200 yards every game. Smu, Fla, mtsu and now nutsack has been all the same. We just happened to pop some runs and get some good zone holes vs Rice, Army, and Marshall. It's as if I'm watching the same schematics and play calling concepts regardless of opponent. And that, my friends, is called bush league coaching.

*We're getting ready to get our faces pushed in next week. On homecoming...again.

So much ridiculousness in this post.

Admittedly, some of it is exaggeration. But all of it, from afar, is not too far off base. We go where Jeff Wilson takes us. If Jeff is having a bad game or if the defense goes completely of the way to neutralize him, this staff doesn't seem to have a plan B and shop practically closes up. That is the point I was making and I'm not sure, statistically, how anyone could even try to argue that. We need better game planning and preparation for WHEN (not IF) Jeff is neutralized. Because at this point of the season we're offensively reeling if he doesn't have a big game.

I thought 70% completion for 27/38 257 yards, 1 TD (and another TD called back on that phantom call) was decent enough offense.

What is not decent is the uncharacteristic 2 INTs and the fumble that pooped out of his hands and lack of run game.

While Fine can't put the game on his back like Wilson can, he still moved the offense.

I agree only getting Wilson 43 yards on 19 carries is terrible (40yds on 12 in the second half), but they got him 44 yards on 4 receptions, and Ivery 2 receptions and 18 yards.

So my points are:

  • Offense wasn't terrible. Turnovers were terrible and back breaking.
  • They got running backs involved in passing game when running didn't work
  • Getting stuffed in the run game is not excusable

i would like to see Buyers used a little bit more. Wish we would put T Goree in motion more, kind of like the Cowboys have done with Dez Bryant this year.

But it all boils down to the line being able to hold off the pass rush. We could have the perfect play called but if Mason is getting sacked, we can execute. I know the line has been hurt but wish we could do a bit better there. Maybe roll Fine out of the pocket to give a run/pass option

After watching the Eagle game quick slants automatic. I don't know if I have seen one this year? I wonder if it is MF height I really don't know. You can hit those plays with a stacked box! Would like to see the run pass option in the red zone.

A large portion of this came when the game was 24-7 and practically no longer in question. When it counted we were getting suffocated. Let's not group garbage yards with meaningful yards.

I believe first half we had 111 total yards!
