I know today’s athletes are getting bigger, stronger, faster ….

But the amount of circus and one-handed catches is becoming common. I also notice that every receiver is wearing the gloves.

Question -   has anyone ever used them? Do they make that big of a difference?

They make a huge difference. There still has to be talent underneath the gloves, but they most certainly help.

Gloves help for sure, but kids are practicing making these catches more and more.  It is irritating most of the time, except when they make that catch in a game then you aren't as mad lol

Gloves help, but if you've got someone with good touch passes, I can catch those with or without gloves on straight on.

And im pretty talentless.

More about concentration, hand size, strength, and of course skill.

Totally gloves.  So much of it is anyway.  It's fun to watch for sure but tons of those catches aren't made bare handed.  Glad so many of you guys get that.  Game has changed so much including the gear.  At least it makes for some pretty gnarly highlight reels.

Stickum was banned because it left an absolute mess on footballs, uniforms, etc.

I know it was messy, but it certainly wasn't the reason it was banned.  It was banned because it affected the integrity of the game by giving users an unfair advantage.  It wasn't coincidence that the NFL called the Stickum ban the "Lester Hayes Rule," and it was implemented the year after he had 13 interceptions aided by Stickum.
