Vito is a facilities truther. The reasoning is

Nice facility = attendance + recruiting thus yielding wins. In advanced Facility Truther, nice facility is multiplied by coaching to produce ultimate dynastic outcomes.

Doesn't seem  the prior regime fully recruited toward Apogee.  They did have some successful Junior Days with lots of parents on hand but seems we didn't always recruit the creme de la creme from those.

Said it before but Gray Eagle kept posting  as far back as 2011 that we were just not having the kind of recruiting classes we should have had toward Apogee; that is, a stadium that former Dallas Cowboys super scout Gil Brandt called "the Taj Mahal of college football" & with Brandt adding:  "...and I've  seen them all."

During another era,  Hayden Fry always said North Texas was an easy sell. Most around back then would probably agree that he proved it & look at the crappy stadium he (& others) had to recruit toward?  My Texas Almanac states in the 70's Denton County was a rural county of 99,000 population & now what is it--900,000 all within 30 minutes drive of Apogee Stadium? Those demographics are now fully to our advantage.

The best part is many of our 6'th sense tells us Seth Littrell & staff will finally utilize the hell out of the extreme positive benefit that having Apogee on our campus should have already been.  Hellsbells! It still has that new smell to me!

Its past time for our fortunes to change for the good up there & recent signs suggests they are.

GMG!

Well gee, Vito have you looked at the overall record.    The home record just like the away record is bad because the 2014 and 2015 teams were among the worse in the country.  This year's team is a big improvement, but still has a long way to go.

I believe NT has a significant home field advantage and as the team improves, it will  be more and more evident.

Mac happened.

More specifically, his recruiting. Because he was the coach for all those wins at Apogee as well.

I always thought the Apogee advantage was being a bit overrated, since we were really just winning games against mediocre teams.

In 2011 we went 4-2 at home, but the the 4 teams we beat went a combined 8-40 that year (Indiana, FAU, ULM, and MTSU).

In 2012 we went 3-2 at home, with the most impressive win of the Mccarney era outside of the 2013 season, as we beat Louisiana Lafayette, who finished the season 9-4. However, our other two wins came against a 2-11 South Alabama program in their first year of FBS play, and a 2-9 FCS team in Texas Southern. We also lost at home to a 5-7 Troy team, very agonizingly.

In 2013 we were just a good team. But then in 2014 we went 4-2 with the 4 teams we beat (SMU, Nicholls State, FAU, and FIU) going a combined 8-40 again, just like in 2011. We also lost at Apogee to Southern Miss that year for their only conference win of the season.

Then last year we were just awful and finally saw the effects of filling recruiting classes with players no one else offered.

Point being, we won a lot games we should've won. Point also being, if Mac could win the games he did at home, no reason Littrell shouldn't win much more, as well as actually being competent and having a chance on the road.

Mac was hell bent on winning at home at the expense of winning on the road.

That, what? How does a coach do that? What decisions enable you to be successful at home but not on the road?

If we had a crowd like this every home game might that be worth some points on the scoreboard?

UH's then HFC Kevin Sumlin had to call 2 (or was it 3) timeouts at Apogee because of crowd noise.

Upper Wing Zone Promo:   Kids under 12 get in free with at least 1 paying adult?   It would be a lot of concessions & Mean Green Gear Shop sales for certain.  (We know this won't happen but we can dream of seeing a filled upper Wing Zone, right)? LOL!

* Do this promo for "EVERY" home game, but when we start winning & become a Top 25 football program that promo could cease.

Top 25 status shouldn't be why this program stops, it should be we have enough demand for those seats for people who are willing to pay to sit in those seats as opposed to giving those seats away.  At best that section hold around 3k so I suppose when we're selling out all the other sections the program should be retired or suspended.

I doubt there will be enough apparel and concession sales to make up the giveaway but it sounds like a fair idea.

You plan your entire season around expecting Ws at home. He game planned for the home games, the away games were an afterthought.

That was how McCarney worked.

He didn't care if we lost to FIU on the road as long as the team was healthy and prepared for the next week.
