Marshall Game

So, what are your thoughts on this weeks game with Marshall?

Personally I think it should be a fun up and down game.  

Do you guys throw a lot of deep balls, or is your passing game, short, controlled, with a lot of pace in between plays?

How is the defense this year

We have not thrown all that many deep balls, simply because the O-line would often not allow enough time and the WRs aren't helping enough either.

There is pace though, and QB Mason Fine has played well. Overall the offense is not impressive yet, it is quite inconsistent, but has shown flashes at time.

But overlook this seasons UNT defense at your own peril. If your defense lets our O spend enough time on the field to leave the UNT defense any kind of rest, then it will be very hard to throw on UNT. Running is a bit easier, but not a complete gimme either.

I dont think any game in Texas is a gimme game, just like no game in Huntington is a gimme win of good teams from Texas.

 

We have been beaten in Texas by teams that arent as good as us.  On the other hand, we handled a very good USM and very  good Houston team here in Huntington when we were simply not good.

 

Same thing happens in the Big 12.  The other team in our state can be really good, and go down there and lose to Texas Tech.  And good teams like Texas and Baylor can come to their school up here and struggle or lose.

 

Should be a very entertaining game.  A HUGE game for our team, our season, and our program.

@GoHerd, do you expect many to travel to Denton?

We should have our usual 400 to 500.  Give or take.  We have one player from there in Rodney Allen, and another player who's family is from there in Michael Selby.  I would think Selby may have 40 to 50 people there himself.

I was curious about where those players were from and looked at your roster.  Selby is from Georgia.

You didn't ask for it, but here are my expected emotions during the game:

"Heeere COME...the MEAAAN GREEEN!!!"

"The Mean Green defense has the Herd deep in their own territory on 3rd and 30 aaand they air out a Hail Mary for the touchdown."

"Mason Fine hits Buyers on the slant route. Buyers slips the tackle and he's off to the races!"

"And after a huge pickup, the Mean Green are held to a field goal to end the half."

"To start the second half, Wheeler forces a fumble and it's returned by the Mean Green defense for a touchdown!"

"Here comes the kickoff...and the Herd return it 97 yards for a touchdown."
