I think I heard Fly was the sole reason one or two of our non-revenue teams survived some really bad times.

DOn't know him, but I have a feeling he's just participating in weekend football festivities.

Tailgating was outstanding today, a bit of a late bloomer but finished very well.

Kicking somebody when they're down is the easy path.  

I owe a great debt of gratitude to David.  We most certainly don't see eye to eye on many things, but because we're not twelve, we're able to see the good in each other.  He is a good person.  Of that I will stand firm no matter what.  

It's a new era.  Enjoy it.  And know we're all ultimately in this together.

Well said,oldguystudent!I remember when J.J. won the conference tournament at ULL. David, his better half Julie,and  I were at all our games, which is where  I first met them.Because ULL was eliminated early there were more people on the floor than in the stands for the championship game. The Anderson's are not rolling in money, give till it hurts, and are always trying to recruit new fans and donors. You have not lived until  Julie approaches you for money. The bottom line is that if all of us gave a tenth of what the Anderson's give in time and money the Athletic department could drop body bag games and have a head start on our projected covered practice facility.

Great thread guys!  

We've covered players on the sidelines, donor/fans, band members.... Who should we turn our guns on next?  Cheerleaders/dance team??

Has anyone complained about the cannon crew?  What about Spiriki?  Just sitting there all immobile like a  jerk...

Anyone else uncomfortable with all the players and coaches touching Spiriki before the game?  Seems like a sexual harassment lawsuit will be coming soon.

Well they did forget the cannon and fireworks after the first touchdown on Saturday. Which surprised me, because it was a long drive that should have given them plenty of time to prepare.

Now really.  Who in the entire Apogee Stadium expected North Texas to score on the first drive ? 

When was the last time NT scored on the first p[possession ?  Much less a touchdown.

 

Beat the Thundering Heard.  Who ?  The Heard.  Heard who ?  The Thundering Herd.  Those guys from Marshall.

      We had Greeks at the game!

      When I was at UNT, there was no need to shutdown the tailgate. We all went in as a group from the tailgate and enjoyed the games. There were also Greek life members all over SGA. It was a main talking point that we needed to boost attendance and be part of that change. I don't know what's happened since then. In my experience, the students inclined towards the arts expressed animosity towards sports. Almost like there was jealousy at the attention and resources dumped in sports without realizing athletics are often the main link between a school and its alumni and therefore a big opportunity to attract donations to help fund other on campus projects. Those students geared towards the arts are more likely those to dye their hair as well. There are exceptions on all sides though.

      Yeah I'm well aware of the stereotypes, but go ahead and scan or meet the student crowds at the basketball and football games and get back with me about the greek/weirdo ratio. I mean you don't even need to scan the crowds, just go talk to anyone who was a talon in the last 25 years and get back to me about the various frats and sororities they have crossover with. I mean if it was the greeks pulling in all the support we wouldn't be creating a thread about how surprised we are that literally a few of them from one specific frat showed up to one specific game.
