There are rumors that Major League Lacrosse may finally be bringing a team to Texas, but by way of relocation. For the first time in league history, players with at least five years of experience and an expiring contract were given the ability to relocate to another team of their choosing. Nine players from the Rochester Rattlers have filed for player movement. Other teams combined for only eight players filing. The 2016 MLL season saw 7 out of 9 teams tie for first place at 8-6. However, Rochester was one of the three 8-6 teams that did not make the playoffs due to tiebreaking procedures. The Rattlers again struggled in attendance this year, only averaging 1,500 per game.

Rumors are that the team will be relocating to Dallas, Houston, or Minnesota by 2017 or 2018. I'm not sure how many people on this board are lacrosse fans but I am super psyched. Texas Stadium hosted a MLL game in 2008. Houston drew over 10,000 for the 2015 All-Star Game. Minnesota was hosted one of the semifinal games this year and drew over 4,000. I think Dallas and Minnesota are the best places to go right now. The Star or FC Dallas Stadium would be great venues for the team.

That's really cool...I only know a little about lacrosse, but I played in gym late in high school when I finally started to get a bit coordinated and became better at sports, and it was a lot of fun.

I know next to nothing about MLL, but know a little about the game from watching my nephews play. So DFW might get a team, but it will be a team where all of the players with experience have left?

Those players who filed for player movement still have the option to resign with the team. My guess is they don't want to get stuck in a city they don't want to play in or something along those lines. But for each player that does sign with another team, that Dallas/Rochester team would receive the other team's next draft pick in the appropriate round.

Toyota Stadium (FC Dallas) is probably a bit on the big side for major league lacrosse.

I keep trolling the MLL on Twitter to partner with the MLS in some of their cities (Columbus, Boston, etc etc). The NLL (indoor lacrosse) has a few teams that have partnered with their NHL counterparts and have been a lot more successful in that time span. The Saskatchewan Rush, the most successful team without an NHL partner, sold out their building the entire postseason.
