I officially revise my season prediction to 1-11 or 2-10 at best.  Seth Littrell has chosen to throw away the season.  How the hell he expects to recruit after another one win season...?  But, he must, because he's put us squarely on that pathway.

We were always going to be a 1-2 win team this season. Losing to Florida while getting a million dollars doesn't change that. Littrell, Harrell, and Fine are learning on the fly, with returning players who don't fit his system at all. Plus, he has had to already run off several scholarship guys who showed they'll quit on the university in a heartbeat.

The rebuild here is colossal in its enormity. It's hard to accept as fans, but it's why watching the scoreboard this year isnt the way to gauge success here--it's ALL about the results we see in recruiting, meaning the biggest wins this year will be in the locker rooms and living rooms across the state, not on the field.

✳️ Hellsbells, the year North Texas beat a 6 & 5 SEC school over in Knoxville we opened the season with a 60 something to 7 loss to Oklahoma State.   College Football Hall of Famer Hayden Fry was the Mean Green coach back then.  CACA HAPPENS!

? See y'all at Apogee Stadium on October 1'st!  Me'thinks this journey will make this group's eventual destination point higher than any of us have seen--including the Fry era.  Just a gut feeling.

I am not  sure what you are going for Captain Obvious or Chicken Little?

What is this pathway do you speak of? Is this alcohol induced?

The line was 36 1/2 last I looked, so Florida did not cover.

Defense did well, I saw improvement in most areas. We were very small next to them, the offensive line got pushed around like little children. Nobody else we play this year will have that kind of size across the board.

Have we reached a whole new level of lying, because the two deep doesn't list us as small against pretty much anyone. Outside of the chosen one getting the snaps of course.

A 32-0 loss to Florida doesn't say much about our team. We'll know how Littrell is doing in year one when we play our conference.

I predicted 3 wins this year and felt like I was being optimistic.

You may feel that way if all you do is look at the score! Fine can make plays given some time ! He makes plays opens the running game. We will not see another D or O of this caliber! Our D looked very good  especially when you consider how long they were on the field. Receivers and O line need the work! Beat RICE this will be the telling game! Gmg

Correct me if I'm wrong, but last year, didn't we lose by a lot more than that to a D2 team? How can anyone who watched our defense keep Florida from scoring more than 32 think that we haven't improved and we're "throwing away" the season?

You're wrong, but your point is on track.  Assuming you are referencing Portland State, they are an FCS school, not D2.

(FCS was formerly called D1AA.  D2 is a lower division than that.)

Thanks for knowing what I meant. I knew, too, but... it's early yet.

This is so convoluted it's almost confusing. Of course suck, they won 1 game last and signed Mac's recruits this last cycle. I hate to break it to you, but you probably will not see SL recruites play in large #s for a couple seasons unless you think he will start 10 Freshmen next year. I don't understand the recruiting angle. When other teams sign players when the team looses a lot I read on here that they "only" signed there for playing time. You don't think SL is smart enough to do the same? It escapes me why your indignant.

did anyone expect us to win this game?  I know I didnt, we have a ways to go and we all knew that coming into the season.  We don't have the depth and we are trying to put players into a new system that don't work.  I have not given up on this team because I don't think they quit on the field.  Watching Coach L press conference I could tell he was really disappointed and I know he has not given up.  A story book season would have been great but we have a lot of growing to do on offense.  The defense and and special teams are looking better  but we need the offense to get going.  I will see you at the next home game.  I think i pick us to win 3 or 4 games this year.  I am still saying we get the wins.  This week showed the conference is not that strong and we played the toughest team in our conference in week 3.  I think Rice will tell us were we are next week.  Rice is a lot slower than Florida.

I honestly thought the defense played so well that I am not as upset about the offense. They were put in bad positions all night and cqme up big several times.

Let's also keep in mind that Florida has given up a total of 14 points and 389 yards in 3 games. One of those games was against an SEC team (albeit, Kentucky). It is too early to say for sure, but Florida might have the best defense in the country.

Oh is it time for #HotTaeks?

Let's see what they do against conference competition before making ridiculous statements.

Florida D is elite. UNT offense is not.

Florida offense is just ok in SEC-level comp. Defense did well. They absolutely obliterated Kentucky.

Mason Fine is a true freshman.

Littrell had a month to put together an entire class.

Let's see what they do against Rice.

Proud of the Defense considering how long they were on the field. We have been told over and over, on this blog too, that the offense has several years of improvements to go. Didn't expect to win...I'll mark it up to another learning experience for SL and gang.

I assume this thread was started to get a rise out of the faithful.  I actually think this was a plus game for the team, they played one of the best in the country and showed a lot of grit.  NT won't get on the field with anything close to Florida, the rest of the year.   For those that think this is an one or two win team, did you bother to the look at what the other CUSA teams did this week.  I feel better about my 5 win prediction after this week.
