Mason Fine will I predict be a total non-flop.  Too much pride & "want to succeed" from this young man and he also comes from a solid family which gives him a good life balance-- not that the other didn't have that.

Humility and hard work is something his teammates will rally around.  Anytime you feel like you have a great leader, you'll expect more out of yourself and your teammates.  I think we have that in this young man.

I just worry about his size...hope he stay healthy.  Offensive line must be consistent.

Early in the B-C game, I looked down from my vaunted perch on the top row, 15 in Section 110, to the rail and was mesmerized by a group of shirtless young men (keep it clean fellas), many with green hair and green body paint. They were among about 20 fans, most in green, some with Locust Grove Pirate stadium chairs. I spoke to one of the kids (who wisely chose to remain shirted) and he stated the obvious: his crew was from Locust Grove, all were here to see Mason Fine play football. Not sure if some of this was family...I suspect not sitting amongst the peasants in the slums of Section 110.

That group of 20 drove about 4.5 hours, were loud and proud Mean Green converts. And that line of kids? Never sat down, even when Fine came out of the game.

In the rare moments that I wasn't already smiling last Saturday evening, this group of new fans made me smile.

And the OL will really need to step up their game this week, no matter who is playing QB.

While the 31 pass attempts vs Florida kind of skews this stat, we will definitely have to step up our game big time.

ETA: Their defense is very good.

Vizza was far from a flop, he just played on an awful team and I think was led to believe that he deserved better.   Anyone remember that Fry's first NT team was led by a freshman QB, Van Ness, who led the team to a five win season and MVC title?  He like Vizza apparently wanted something better and transferred I think to one of the Utah schools were he started several years.  

It is still way early to start identifying Fine with the better QB's that have played for NT.   He has only played to two drives against a mediocre SMU and a game against a good FCS school.   What he has displayed is very encouraging, and hopes are high.  He will probably struggle this week, but how he does against a premier team will tell everyone a lot about this player.

Yeah, espcially on the line and in the backfield.

I seem to recall having nightmares about a freshman starting against Tulsa in 2011. Maybe starting because of injury to the starter does not count as starting?

Fine seems, well fine, and it's hard to believe we didn't come out of camp with a solid QB.

Correct. According to Mel Kiper Jr., the Gators have a top 5 draft prospect at their respective position in the following places:

TE #30 DeAndre Goolsby

DT #57 Caleb Brantley

LB #40 Jarrad Davis

CB #31 Jaylon "Teez" Tabor

S #20 Marcus Maye

P #19 Johnny Townsend
