Did UT approve the helmet?   Do all the UT branches have to have the same colors, both UTSA and UTEP have the same colors, just wonder if UT forces that because UTEP use to be burnt orange white back in the day.

I think they all have some shade of orange in common. UT Dallas is orange and green, for example.

getting rid of the horn stripe on their old helmet is a step in the right direction...

They do look alike, but how many variations can one make of a 1970s fella in a cowboy hat? Might as well throw the Dallas Cowboy mascot into this convo.

initial internet digging mentions NMSU and Wyoming. No link to the UTEP prospector.

@UTSA Fan

Let's be honest, when you guys were starting your program and the uniforms first came out nobody thought..... looks mighty similar to another UT system school

being honest, nobody cared. still dont, except you apparently.

Sorry. I'm from El Paso and all things UTEP are gross and garbage. Awful school with a trashy fanbase.

 Thanks two of my kids  graduated from UTEP.   You could not like a place and don't have to be an ass about it

I like it.  I've always got a soft spot in my heart for UTEP thanks to all the time I used to spend out there for work.  I know their fans get a little nutty at the games (Read:  Physically violent), but the city was always so friendly and welcoming, and they do so love their Miners there.
