So in this great rivalry, there have been exactly 3 whole games played in Denton!?!?!?

???????????

Yep.  Pathetic.  The first time they played in Denton wasn't until 1974.  Didn't do it again until the Dodge era.

Don't you mean 1990? We played them in Denton in '90, '06, and '14.

Well when they were in a "big time" conference and we were building up the program, we played our home games against them in Texas Stadium, just like you advocate.

No, I don't. Stop changing what I say to fit your agenda.

That said, if I had the chance to play OU in Jerryworld this week, and if I beat them, I knew I would be favored in every remaining game, be a top ten team, if I do win out I most likely earn a spot in the national title tournament, AND give and give a big bump to my resume for inclusion into the Big 12, of which I am a finalist for consideration already, I WOULD DO THAT SHIT IN A HEARTBEAT!!!

Whereas you would be happy playing little ole SMU home and home every year and going to the Feminine Hygene bowl once a decade.

You're right.  I read an article that said that '74 was the first game of the series not hosted by SMU.  I assumed that meant it was played in Denton, but it was actually played at the Cotton Bowl.

NRG stadium is 10 minutes from UH.

AT&T stadium is 60 minutes from UNT.

We are not UH, we did not go 13-1 last year, and we've never been in the same conference with Texas. Now, insert reality. With the UH drivel stripped out, is your statement still true?

Stop trying to reason with him. He'll just accuse you of being a RV defender and tell you to raise your expectations.

Yes, it is. There is no reason we can't get a P5 at home in Apogee.

ALL OF OUR CONFERENCE PEERS ARE DOING IT!!!

But keep on being happy with the minimum, Rick.

With low expectation fans like yourself, we will never be Houston. And your loser mentality self is perfectly fine with it.

So if Nebraska or Wisconsin or USC called and said they would be open to playing us at Jerry World or the Cotton Bowl, are there people here who would say no because they are supposed to come to 30k seat Apogee in Denton, instead?

That's what amazes me-fans on here always say we are in the DFW market, just like SMU and TCU, but when the idea comes up about playing a gigantic P5 team in DFW, these same voices immediately say, "No way--we are in Denton. If they won't play here, then we won't play you." RV took advantage of this nonsense by hearing our fans scream to him about SMU being our rival, so by scheduling the series with them, as well as Army, he felt like he did exactly what the fans wanted.

Who does UTEP, Charlotte, FAU, MTSU, ODU, and Southern Miss have coming in?

You were once an RV defender. I wasn't against getting rid of RV, I was against your methods and hearing you whine about it constantly.

You know with your worthwhile, wonderful, winner mindset, always go everywhere expectations, I'm surprised you haven't willed us to FBS dominance yet.

Add two more season tickets!  I was going to just buy per game, but decided that it was worth it to have a parking pass and seats in the shade, and contribute to the scholarships (however that actually works).  I'll be in section 208, row 8, seats 1 & 2.  So who are my new neighbors?

I'll have to come visit my old friends in 105 - see y'all on Saturday!

I'm pretty sure that me and the fam are close to you. Not looking at my tickets but i'm up under the overhang against the isle and to the east of midfield.

If it meant only having 5 games at Apogee then yes I'd be against it. Plus, I'm guessing we'd still have to play our "body bag" game. Who doesn't love starting the year with 2 likely blowouts before even playing on your own field?!?

Here's a crazy thought--maybe, just maybe we could have a team that could compete with one of those teams if we didn't have to play them in front of 100k of their own fans...

You really think if we played someone like USC they wouldn't have the home field advantage? It would take 2-3 years of REALLY good football for us to have a crowd to draw even with the programs you're suggesting. I guess some of us are realistic enough to know we're not ready for a game like that yet.

Lets focus on getting some mid to low P5 schools at Apogee and building the program before giving USC a defacto home game in Arlington.

Don't worry--we couldn't even think about scheduling a game like this for another 6-8 years, bare minimum. By that time, the Big XII will have imploded, the Power leagues and their two almost-power leagues (AAC and MWC) will officially pull away from the Bottom G5s in the MAC, CUSA, and SBC. At that point, we won't be playing any Power teams anywhere.

The 74 game was played @ Texas Stadium. The school (or Hayden) tried to put our best foot forward for that game. In addition to a McAdow- "letsgiveacheer"-led Marching band being on hand, we also had the 1 o'clock lab band set up in one corner of the field performing pre-game.

I went from being neutral on RV to enlightenment as his scheduling came completely into focus in 2012.

UTEP- Arizona and Texas Tech

FAU- hosted Miami Hurricanes last year

MTSU- Vanderbuilt, Duke, Missouri

ODU - North Carolina, Va. tech (THREE TIMES), Virginia

Charolette (an FBS start up program)- Duke, Maryland, North Carolina

TRY TO KEEP UP, PLEASE!!!!

So to recap, a conference mate start up that some think shouldn't be in the same conference as UNT has THREE P5 home games on their future schedule.

UNT has none.

Now, go back to your RV defending hole, troll.

Not sure who's correct, but according to this article, the game at Texas Stadium wasn't until 77.   http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/110414aae.html?wappref=std

Haha, you crack me up. So its about having a P5 somewhere on your future schedule now? We have had P5s at home in the past, you know that right? Mac probably put a stop to it to protect his home win percentage. A P5 has to have something to gain by coming to play us in DFW. Most regional P5s already play a game in DFW so there is no incentive for them to add a game with us.

I am glad we have Wren Baker. He will take us to new heights but don't pretend like you didn't say yourself that RV was the best AD we've had in the past 80 years. You are right that I was pro-RV. I was pro-RV until he came up with the idea for dual interim coaches with Cosh being one of them. That is when I lost faith in him and am glad he moved on. You should get over it now. It is done. RV is not longer a part of this program.

In one breath you talk about expecting more and in the next breath you expect us to fail. The season starts tomorrow. Can you swallow your pride and be positive just for one day? RV is gone, you beat him. Now get your butt in your club seat tomorrow and cheer your ass off.

The story on Meangreensports is wrong. Both the 74 and 76 games were played at Texas Stadium. I know that because I attended both of them. I have an old 2005 media guide that says the same thing......both games played @ Texas Stadium. Whoever the fact checker is @ meangreensports is getting paid too much.

The last time we played in the Cotton Bowl (other than the HOD bowl)  was in 1981 vs Ok. State. We lost 9-0.

Thanks 93-98, your confidence in me is greatly appreciated.

Yep.  I found another article that said the 74 game was played in Irving.

Lots of words to defend your little RV buddy.

I mean, how many times can you be proven wrong before just having zero credibility?

Troll.

Linear thinkers have a hard time with long term optimism vs short term realism.

You may want to consider that things changed drastically between 2009 and 2015, a full third of your little buddy's tenure. Lol.

Troll.
