Whereas you would be happy playing little ole SMU home and home every year and going to the Feminine Hygene bowl once a decade.

That is the Tampa X Bowl, get your bowl names straight.

Not sure who's correct, but according to this article, the game at Texas Stadium wasn't until 77.   http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/110414aae.html?wappref=std

As usual, our SID has it wrong. We were definitely at Texas Stadium for the SMU game in 1974.  I recall having to climb aboard one of SMU's student buses and telling them to stop throwing crap on our band whose buses were parked next to theirs.

One correction, Silver. Mr. McAdow had left by that time and turned the band over to graduate assistant Jim Hansford until a new director could be found.

So if Nebraska or Wisconsin or USC called and said they would be open to playing us at Jerry World or the Cotton Bowl, are there people here who would say no because they are supposed to come to 30k seat Apogee in Denton, instead?

That's what amazes me-fans on here always say we are in the DFW market, just like SMU and TCU, but when the idea comes up about playing a gigantic P5 team in DFW, these same voices immediately say, "No way--we are in Denton. If they won't play here, then we won't play you." RV took advantage of this nonsense by hearing our fans scream to him about SMU being our rival, so by scheduling the series with them, as well as Army, he felt like he did exactly what the fans wanted.

Yes, I think we should say no. We are an hour away from Jerry World.

You've been letting 90 do it for like six years, why clamp down now?

thou shall not argue with mods and if you tryest, thou should try to be funny about it.

(no, it's not necessary to look up my posting history about the rules...)

( @Cerebus make sure and say hi tomorrow, I found you a stout)

I remember that after that game some "classy people" came onto our campus and spray painted "SMU" on the columns of the Administration building. As I walked by I remember thinking "so, this is big time football?"

Judging from the Ticket Master map and the long line I had to wait in to get General Admission tickets, I'd saying the cheaper Gen Ad tix may have factored in with our high attendance level. Now, we just need to get a faster server to process that many credit cards. Seemed to be the biggest issue with the lines, and also for some reason a lot of tickets weren't scanning at the gate.
