It's a little unsettling to hear him admit that they are not ready for SMU yet.

Interesting clip, though.  It almost sounds like he's pulling for Fine to start over Morris.

Maybe he means, "We're not where we want to be yet" which would be less worrisome.

No, you're right. He said, "we're not where we need to be YET. But come Sep 3rd we will be."

Yes, that's how I understood it.  That's why I put the "yet" in my post.  As for the last part, of course he's going to say they'll be ready by the start of the season.  But I don't believe I've ever heard a player admit to not being ready for the season opener this close before the season starts.

Coach also said they had not begun practicing specifically for SMU. My guess is that what he meant by "yet" and also why there will no longer be media access to practice, as they will start now.
