SMU adds assistant coach Shawn Forrest to basketball staff

SMU has announced the hiring of assistant basketball coach Shawn Forrest.

Forrest most recently spent the past three seasons as an assistant at Western Kentucky.

Forrest was named a UTSA assistant in May but left for Louisiana Tech just two weeks later. Forrest then bolted to SMU.

SMU had an open spot on its staff following the resignation of Hall of Famer Larry Brown and promotion of Tim Jankovich, who will over as head coach this season.

Forrest also has experience as an assistant coach at Louisiana-Lafayette, North Texas, Arkansas State and Florida A&M.

SMU finished 25-5 last season but missed the NCAA Tournament due to multiple infractions.

Better question is why is he constantly jumping ship and never settling in. Four schools in the past year seems a bit sketchy.

Clearly, that was seen as a desirable trait when interviewing with smoo athletics.

SMU gives a sliding scale of signing bonuses based upon just how dishonest a given applicant is.
