"father is chair of the department of criminal justice at the University of North Texas"

Does this mean he attends for free?   And if so, does that count as a scholarship?

Yeah, he would be eligible for a 75% tuition waiver. That's an interesting question.

When did this start?  My Dad was a professor, department chair and Dean.  I didn't get a break.

We had all this talk when Riley came.  And it was a full football scholarship.  IIRC, any scholarship a football player receives counts toward the football scholarship limits.

Riley was officially on scholarship. If this player is a walk-on and receives a discount because his dad works for the school, I feel like that's different. It's not a scholarship but a perk the family gets from the father working for the school. If somebody knows this player's exact situation, I'm sure we can figure out if he counts but I doubt it.

I could be wrong, but I believe this is how it would work -

The AD "pays" for each scholarship

If he is on a scholarship that would count against our numbers. The "advantage" could be that the AD pays less for his fees.
