Interesting situation re: his eligibility. A lot of things that we don't know yet. If this is his first college enrollment, does he get 5 to play 4? Based on the weight number I saw in one of the links, he will need some time in the weight room to bulk up some...especially if he gets a shot at safety. JMO.

Likely, his mlb team will be paying for his college.  It is fairly common for those drafted right out of high school to have that provision as part of the signing bonus.

Excellent pickup! Kid has home run speed running an electric time 60 yard dash (baseball's equivalent of the 40 yard). Plus he will be mature mentally having been a professional and having to recover from his suspension.

Speed, speed, speed!

now let's hope he can pick it up quickly and provide us another weapon in the WR arsenal

It's aggressive.  I like it.  As opposed to being complacent like previous regimes, these guys are finding ways to get people in.  It's better than doing nothing and complaining about what you were left with.

If he ran a 4.3 40 at any point, I'll take him. Like to see him gain about 20 pounds but clearly he is athletic and can hopefully bring something to the table to help us

I'd bet you that he gained that weight while playing pro ball.

I watched this kid play against my son in HS baseball.  Unbelievable athlete!!  Runs like a deer.  Great hands, I was surprised that TB moved him to the OF.

With our lack of depth, he might be able to help in some capacity this year.

To answer a previous question:  He never enrolled at any college, so he should have 4 years of eligibility.

Here is his ESPN high school recruiting page.  Says he ran a 4.6 40.

Regarding paying for school, MLB offers a college scholarship program.  It is up to the player to negotiate this as part of his initial contract.   If you are interested, here is a link:  http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/scholarship.jsp?content=guide_post_20041003
