Big news here. I'd expect to see Baulkman work his way into his role of playing the "slot corner" or "nickleback" spot (like Orlando Scandrick plays for the Cowboys).

He's going to push Preston, that's for sure, but I hope Preston hangs on.  I like him.

It's definitely good to have depth and the hope is Baulkman pushes (and ultimately surpasses) Preston as a talent upgrade at that position.

He is probably going to end up as a  backup Safety. Definitely in the 2 deep.

3-3-5 just needs a good plug in the middle and linebackers that can fly around in the gaps.

The secondary is our best asset coming into the season due to their experience.  Most of the experience came through bad experiences.  But, look...the safeties got much tackling practice last year.

The 2011 team got juice from a new, experienced coaching staff and almost pulled a 6-6 record after six consecutive losing seasons.  I think this defensive side gets juice from the Ekeler/Reffett tandem.  I especially line Ekeler as the LB coach as well.  Pelini's LB corps have been aggressive and productive wherever he has been; and, Ekeler spent most of his coaching career with Pelini.

These guys are in good hands.

Listen, fellas...

...don't stop believin'...hold on to that fee-e-lay-ee-ay-ay-in'.
