UNT90 said no, therefore this questions already has an absolute, final answer. Don't you know that Ben? His word is law

Sure, but I just want to get a poll out there just to disprove his hard headedness.

Yes, but I've always called them SMUt or S&M U.  I like SMUg, though - it's appropriate.

Any team that UNT Plays and I hate everything about them including the team, the fans and the city(iffy) I mark as a rival

SMU.....CHECK

UTSA.....CHECK

I figuratively mark them as a rival. Then to literally mark them, I enlist the aid of my little buddy! His name is Scrapee !

They are about as close to a rival as we have, and they are hated, so I guess by definition that this makes them a hated rival. Let us hope that we can find a more relevant hated rival in the future. Personally, I'd rather spend my time hating someone else, since there aren't really that many true SMU fans to hate.

As you grow up you will learn that people disagree with you.

Its sad the hard core fans set their sights so low that they need to feel SMU is some type of rival. They aren't. What says so?

History and common sense.

The all-time record is extremely slanted. The teams have never played each other over a consistent number of years. And, most importantly, SMU and its fans only care about this game if they lose. When they do lose, they aren't mad, they are embarrassed.

Sadly, UNT has been so bad and jump around from conference to conference for so long that UNT has no rival.

Wanna hate SMU? Go ahead, all 70 of you. But ask yourself, of the same question was posed on their website, how many would give two craps about UNT...

They are too 'smug' to admit hatred towards a "lowly" university such as UNT. You are making the case as to why many Mean Green fans dislike them ao much. Yet, you're arguing it simultaneously.

Sure, they are our rival. But, it's not a true rivalry because we have only recently played them again. SMU can and will end the series when it provides no value to them. And value to them is winning games to bolster their record. When that becomes jeopardized, they will bolt because of their cash. Losing to us caused them to get rid of their coach after the 2nd game of the season. Now, with Morris there, they aspire to becoming a winner again. If they lose to us, it evens the field. When they don't play us, it slants back to their advantage because of their history, name, and money. If they do become a winner, they will dodge us again for awhile, just to avoid losing to us.

ive said it before and I'll say it again. SMU only plays us when they are really bad and need a win over a program that can show their rich fans that they can beat someone they've heard of before. See 1989, 1990, and 1992. See 2006-2007. And think of where they are right now after the last two seasons. This series was always meant to be a 4 gamer to them, while are fanbase thought it was definitely going to be 12 years straight. That's not how SMU works with UNT--never has been, never will be.

Do not like SMU in any way.

That said, attended UNT at a time when Middle was a pretty heated rival and dislike Middle to this day. If Arkansas State and New Mexico State were still around, I'd probably say the same for them, too.

Don't confuse pre-death-penalty SMUg with post-death-penalty SMUg. They have never beaten us on our home field, ever (Fouts or Apogee). The series is tied 2-2 since Ford Stadium was built. It will move to 3-2 in our favor after we beat them September 3rd. If we'd had a coach with some stones or a qb with an arm last year, we'd have beaten them on their turf.
