f*ck!  i was really wanting both of these guys to make it.  hayes, because we need the help on the line and johnson because he looks to be a bad ass.  never count on jc's making it to camp.

What is interesting (ironic) is that these were February signing class signees, and that the Blueshirts / late signees are expected to be dressed for practice later this week.

If we just lose these two, then Littrell has done a good job.  In fact, I think you can already say he's done a good job with the number that have made it to campus and are practicing.

You have to remember (or, accept) that this is the last FBS shot some of those guys have.  It motivates some; others it doesn't.  Kudos to Littrell and staff for keeping after it for months after signing day.  They knew they'd need to roll the dice, they did, and they won some for us.

So, we have basically known for a while that these two would not make it, or they had the opportunity to improve their grades and didn't.

Interesting, that the two jucos who definitely didn't qualify are early signees, not the late blue shirts; who were represented as more risky.

The blue shirts were not more risky. You also have to consider the Hayes and Johnson committed about 7 months ago. There was a lot still left to do on their end before ever making it here. The blueshirts/recent signees were signed after the spring semester, when they had either proven to get the work done to be eligible or were close.

Losing those two knocks the 2016 recruiting class down toward the bottom of C-USA.

Nobody goes back and re-ranks. UNT is not the only one that has lost players. For example, Marshall's #1 recruit did not qualify either.

Sure, I understand that, officially speaking.  But practically speaking, we were ranked toward the bottom of C-USA prior to the late addition of Johnson.  So considering what we actually added to the roster in this recruiting class, it's back to where it was before (and obviously well below Marshall).

Ranking recruiting classes before they have played a down or even played out the eligibility is about the same as pre-season rankings.
