Well yes, but I think it's also a function of knowing that being an attorney (at least a young one) doesn't really pay anymore. You can get paid a little above teacher's/police officer salary at a private law firm with few benefits or make the same at the DA or PD's office and get student loan forgiveness, good medical, and all that. Used to be private firms paid way more than government jobs, but not so anymore unless you get one of those aforementioned hard to come by "big law" jobs.
