University of North Texas researchers conducted one of the first studies of the dating app Tinder and have found that men are most at risk for lowered self-esteem while using the app. This finding is surprising compared to past research, which has shown that women's self-perceptions are most affected by visual media including magazines, television and social networking sites.

And who cares?

presumably anyone who participates in what is very much a "new-normal" for dating.

"The concept of dating has changed, and users should be aware of the ramifications," said Strubel. "Other social media have been studied a lot, but Tinder is a new media with a hyper focus on physical appearance and casual hookups and an expectation for instantaneous feedback."

Petrie agreed, adding it's important to understand the risks.

"As mental health providers, we have to be aware that when young adults come in feeling socially isolated and worried about their appearance, a potential reason may be their involvement with social media. We need to be aware of this so that we can talk about it with our clients," he continued.

Good Lord. Grow a pair. Social media isn't real life. Deal with it. Or go to your "safe zone."

I really don't care.

All of the dating sites are the same. Men are subject to social stereotypes just like women. Don't have chiseled abs, face, or perfect hair, don't waste your time. Not 5'10, don't bother because society says that you are not as physically capable as someone who is 6'2.

Let's all describe the largest woman we have ever laid with. 11 stone? Quone bone.

Also, as a 6'1 male, you should see some of the perks we get when the others aren't looking. It's like black like me on stilts.

6'1"? Pfft. You aren't marketable to any girl 5'8" or over.

Girls like them 4 inch heels.

Now, as a 6'4" guy, I'm seriously banking.

I read an article a few months ago that stated STD's have skyrocketed the last couple of years and Tinder & sites like it  were the driving force. LOL!

While I've never used the Tinder, and I'm hardly the jetsetting playboy to whom young men aspire, I've lived enough life that I do periodically go in for ye olde timey battery of STD tests.  Let me tell ya' something.  Even with going extraordinary lengths to protect one's self, that phone call that informs you everything is still super groovy, carry on you filthy old man, you, is one of the most anxiety producing experiences ever.

A dude I went to HS and then to NT with defied all logic and reality with his ability to score with the hottest women around.

He is maybe 5'7", a tiny bit on the chubby side and was born with one arm shorter than the other.  But the guy could bullshit like no one I've ever known since and the hotties loved it.  I don't mean just the attractive ones, I'm talking 9's and up.  We'd leave a bar or from a party there in Denton and just marvel at what he would leave with.

Unbelievable game.
