Those of you that are saying we need to sell out the SMU game have your heads in the clouds. SMU will probably bring a thousand people. We won one game last year and if you guys seem to think that we are capable of filling 31000 seats I would love to hear how.

I actually think that the big marketing  push needs to occur only after we've identified that Seth is capable of turning this program around. Otherwise you are begging potential fans to come watch a potential 3 win season and write us off as  still sucking.

Agree with this.

RE: the SMUt game, I think we will get a bump from people genuinely curious to see what SL can put on the field on such short notice. Couple this with some promotion of the game and we will have a decent crowd...no sellout.

People will see a competitive game and a team that doesn't quit, because I just can't see less from this coaching staff. No illusions about how well we will do over the course of the season, just give me competitive and they will come. JMHO.

Knock off SMUt and Butt. Now the new AD has something to promote and we should see attendance rising. We pray to the Lord.

Set the bar high for Benford and try to get back the winning culture, instead of having 8,500 seats in the Super Pit collect dust night after night.

Be aggressive in increasing Mean Green Club membership.

Finally get our baseball team on the field!

This is more in reason and moreso what I was meaning in "sellout" Apogee vs smug. There is over a month to market this game. I've seen 0 efforts.

Only 8,500 empty seats?

I would be surprised if SMU brought as many as 1,000 people.

I personally think the first priority should be growing the Mean Green Club. Every other problem we have gets easier to fix with more money to spend!

I also believe there should be a promotional push for the SMU game and the football season in general. But be realistic about it - come watch Coach Seth rebuild the Mean Green. Get in on the ground floor and watch the program grow. It can be a lot of fun to watch a team grow. But for it to be fun, you have to know it's a growing team and not a bowl bound team.

Also, don't worry at ALL - ANY - about the number of fans the visiting team brings. Who cares if they bring 500 or 5,000 because the number of fans NT brings to it's home games is what counts.

You mean it's not sold out yet?

I would like for him to work on filling up the Wing Zone.  We have to come up with a better way to fill it up.

If you fill up the alumni side the wing will begin to fill up...

You fill up the alumni side and the student side and you'll really see the wing zone fill up because there will be no other place to sit.  Make the seats inexpensive and get people hooked.  I've only sat there once for the experience and because you're up high the depth perception is actually pretty good.

24,000 vs SMU

Sounds about right, all things considered.

I worry sometimes that there is a lot of space for people to stand and watch over in that area between the Wing and the alumni side.  I see a lot of fans hanging out over there during games at times.

Put a beer stand and now it's a party area
