Interesting factoid on Dr. Teague... he did his doctoral dissertation on fund-raising in athletics.

There was an interesting quote was that the new AD has a lot of great contacts.  Teague seems to always have been at small schools which isn't the type of contacts we need.  If I had to guess it may be someone who is an AD at a smaller school but who also has spent time as an assistant at larger schools.

This too is the only thing stopping me from throwing my hat in with the assumption that it is Teague.  I am just not just that the Brint Ryans of the world are excited to the point where they make those types of statements about a guy from Delta State and then UCA.

Teague also spent time at Ole Miss in the fund raising area.

Ok cool but almost all of his staff is from Arkansas and smaller schools.  I will bet the bank it isn't Teague.

I won't bet the bank but it doesn't sound like it would be him.  The comment "connections are unbelievable" is open to interpretation.

Hank has a lot of connections. To other current employees and donors. Don't count him out yet.

I'm not saying whoever it is won't end up being a great hire but....

This whole thing has been a typical North Texas cluster%#+*.

You don't make over-arching, grandstanding comments like that. Especially before the hire is announced. You just say "I think we've made a great hire" and leave it at that.

No.  If it wasn't for making fun of DT's Aggie loving that one time... I couldn't tell you anything I liked about the guy.

I also think he checked a sign and left the access hatch open, probably playing around on Twitter and wasn't paying attention.

Come on, now. It wasn't his fault. He had to make excuses for the last guy for 15 years. Just ask George Dunham.

For those who think the BOR will shit the bed, consider that Brint Ryan is a relative newcomer to this whole thing.  He's spent the past couple decades focused on bilking the state of Texas out of millions upon untold millions of reverse audit franchise tax dollars, not worried about shades of green, pageantry, or which era of Fry Street was the best.  He doesn't worship the UNT of 1975 as the end all be all infallible incarnation of Denton and the university, endlessly grasping as ever decreasing straws to maintain his big fish, small pond ways.

So he comes back into the fold a few years ago, and starts kicking ass and taking names, actually demanding standards and results.  There are a number of reasons that I wouldn't want to go out and have a beer with the guy personally, but I also believe that he is absolutely NOT of a business as usual at lil' ole' UNT mentality.  This guy wants to win.  Badly.

For these reasons, I have hope that things will improve.  The meeting in June did a lot to change my perspective.

I don't expect miracles in the way of national championships this season, but I do expect to see some immediate incremental changes that I hope snowball into much bigger things to come.

Very well put. It's a new era; a new line of thinking from the leadership of this university. Big picture, results-oriented from the top down. In terms of Athletics, It started with the Littrell hire and has progressed significantly into this summer with the audit and hire of the new AD.

Things will continue to change for the best, and even if some of the "old guard" are skeptical, it'll work itself out for the betterment of the university, and more specifically, athletics will greatly improve.

Assuming Brad Teague and Wren Baker are the two finalists, it is nice to see that both the finalist have Twitter accounts.  I always thought that RV not having a public Twitter account in today's age showed real weakness on his part.

Oh well, on to the future.

RV was way too emotionally immature to have a Twitter account. Best decision he ever made. And it was a decision that protected RV. Go figure.

They left the twitter to the brilliant social commentators Eric Capper and Carlos Harris.

If he had one, he would have probably promised daily/weekly tweets, only got about three days in and then just stopped.
