Has this alleged person been offered and accepted the position?

Since this person has supposedly been named "new AD", I'm going to go out on a long limb here and say they were offered and accepted.

then what could possibly be the delay in announcing the NEW UNT AD?  Speculation that it is a person from a BIG School, and has to negotiate his/her buy-out/exit package???  Other than that, they should be able to announce almost immediately.....get in here and get to work!!!!!

The main point being it's an energetic outsider.  I think that was a lot of the concern here on the forum. More to follow.  Dottin' "i"s and crossin' "t"s.  Should be done sooner than later.

Maybe the President isn't sure his pick will be approved by the BOR, which contains members that still want to do things the "UNT way." Translation? Good ole boy Hank into the job.

Has the BOR signed off?

If the BOR will not accept his recommendation, the President needs to resign.  He was hired to make decisions.  If they are going to second guess him, he is being cut off at his knees.

Unless this person is a coach or current Athletics Director for a school, he/she wouldn't be working under a contract. I doubt we'd be getting a head coach and so we'd be looking at only a year or two contract for an assistant coach.

I don't really know all of the BOR, but I don't think Brint Ryan wants to keep funneling more of his $millions into the same hole.   As for the other regents, Brint will get them in line.

Hank's gone brother.  No need to worry.

Hope you are right. Believe it when I see it.

And that's what will happen if his choice is blocked. Not right away, as he is obviously smart enough to find another gig before doing this.

There are roadblocks on the BOR to an outsider (multiple sources). Hopefully Smatresk can overcome .

Exactly!  Hell, what do you need a University President for on such matters?

Expect all paperwork complete by EOB tomorrow and an announcement following as soon as logistically smart.

Eaglegreen apparently has solid sources.

Yeah and it would be great if he gave us a hint as to who it was. I'm an impatient man dammit

Impatient?  Some of us have been around for a long, long time.  Since the '60's and before that!

Back when RV was hired it was down to him and Dave Martin of OSU.  Dave is still at OSU as Deputy AD.  I wonder how things would have turned out had he got the offer over RV...  We'll never know.
