I had a response typed and at the ready, but you're right (online, no less).

donated and shutting up

I know it's tempting and I think everyone had some ideas for posts ready to go (myself included), but its hard to go from worrying about friends and family last night to this if you stop and think about it. Would also point out today is a good time to hit up your business for a match or larger gift - seeing several local companies on FB (particularly Top Golf) really making a push to challenge other businesses to step up.

Ya, at the end of the comments after he has already convicted the officers without any evidence.

Also way too little way too late. He incited the black community with uneducated comments on Ferguson and the Martin shooting. He has fostered and encouraged hate along racial lines. This has caused the deaths of blacks who now feel empowered to fight police.

None of the comments you posted were said during those incidents. BLM exists BECAUSE of President Obama's vilification of the American Police Officer. Without BLM, there is no march last night and there is no massacre.

Guess what, when the president implies cops are guilty without any knowledge of the facts of the investigation, these are the consequences. The first black president welds a lot of power in the black community. All he has done is use that power to divide, especially where police shootings are concerned. He doesn't comment on white people shot by police, leading the uneducated to believe police are only shooting black people and doing it because they are black.

The President has constantly thrown police officers to the wolves, destroying their career and families for simple political gain. Morale at departments are at an all-time low. Applications have fallen. Who wants to go into a profession under constant attack by the President of the United States?

Here are Pres. Obama's comments just hours before the Dallas massacre:

Gas on the fire, Mr. President. Now you have the blood of Dallas on your hands.

It's hard to deny that he shows bias, and his usual comments after these incidents certainly do not help matters. He should keep his nose out of state and local issues until federal intervention is warranted. Opening his mouth the day after an incident generally doesn't do anything but fan the flames.

Little insensitive and hypocritical to turn this into a political bitchfest already, you think?

Normally yes.  But when the man in charge,...who listened to racist hate speech for 20 years in church....incites agression towards our police for 7 1/2 years, then no.

How incredibly racist of you.

But I'm not necessarily surprised.

Enjoy the day! I'm outta here.

The usual suspects are at it again.

You deny the fact he sat in church for 20 years listening to anti-white hate speech?

Maybe you DO need to get out of here for a while and shove your head back into the sand.

Rick

AND, when he launched into a gun control reference only one paragraph into his latest flatulent rhino statement this morning...then no.

I think it's safe to go ahead and shut this thread down.  Lots of folks have needlessly lost their lives over the past few days.  They deserve respect...  not this drivel.

Kudos to Quoner for trying to make something positive out of it.

These are real consequences for leading this country down a path of hate. You don't want to talk about it? That's great. Keep plugging your head in the sand. And of course those who support hatred of Police don't want to talk about this today. Well tough.

This isn't a college campus. This isn't some classroom where theoreticals solve world problems. This is a real life consequence of a hate based leadership that vilified police officers for 7 1/2 years. America deserves better leadership than that.

Glad Emmitt is okay. Donation made. Dad was a 40 year DPD vet- great department, better people. I know it's egocentric, but damn if it doesn't feel different when it hits this close to home. I feel numb.

And to some of Y'all- stop it. Not here. Not this one. It's beyond gross.

Tell your father thanks for his service.

Only cops, their family and those who work with them understand what they face every day.

You're right - this is nothing, yet here you are and were from the second the first statement went out last night. At least FFR tried to step back - you're just happy to dance on some warm bodies in your neverending quest to be right and keep pushing your agenda. The idea of turning to GMG in the aftermath of last night versus friends and loved ones is about the saddest possible outcome I can imagine for my life.

Thanks, Rick. Appreciate that.

As for 90's post, while it doesn't deserve a response as is as disgusting an insinuation as I can imagine, rest assured that some of us who don't wish to devolve into politically charged discourse at a time of honoring, mourning, and finding ways to support our DPD family (who we grew up with, who were and are family and friends) are the LAST people who "support hatred of police." Vile garbage.

I live two blocks away, my apartment has a great diagonal view of Lamar Street and the BOA Plaza. Saw tons of cops rushing towards the scene. I knew immediately that it was gunshots and something really bad was going down. I figured that someone had either opened up on BLM protest or the cops escorting the protest. Really heartbroken that I was right. Love each other guys, violence is never the answer.
