FBS Council adjusts bowl selection process

The Council determined that all bowl-eligible teams with 6-6 records must be selected for a bowl game before any teams with a 5-7 record can be considered.

After all bowl-eligible teams are selected, the 5-7 teams – which will be considered alternates – will be deemed eligible in descending order from the highest multiyear Academic Progress Rate in the Football Bowl Subdivision for the most recent reporting year. Those teams will then select the bowl in which they will participate.

In April, the Council placed a moratorium on the certification of new bowl games. No new bowl games will be played before the 2020 football season.

That is all good to hear. I wish no damn 5-7 team got a bowl, but these are young men... Let them have fun. 6-6 in CUSA should get the bid before a 5-7 SEC school. As a player you know your skill level and competition in your conference. Regardless, where you fall in that spectrum you should always fight to be over 500. A 6-6 season with a bowl win is just that. Damn glad they acknowledge this now.

I wish they didn't count wins over FCS opponents for bowl eligibility. (Our schedule would transform pretty quickly.)

Good yet bad thing we are the one in the bodybag after those games. It just means we would play more MWC, Sunbelt, or MAC teams.
