UNT didn't want to spend the money to fire Benford.

Will they spend the needed money to hire an outsider to come in and clean up the steaming pile of manure left by the last AD?

Or will they yet again take the cheap route and hire part of the problem?

There are several long term fans whose loyalty hang in the balance of this decision.

I've been wondering about the Benford situation. RV said the preside wanted to let him coach out his contract. Then, a couple of  months later RV is gone. Maybe Smatresk did that to allow the new AD to pick his own guy for that job...

That's the hope. Are you comfortable with anyone from the current AD making that selection?

I'll say this, I'm in the 'trust' camp when it come to to the Pres for now. I didn't think he was going to get RV out of here and he managed it.

I think new blood is needed, but if he picks a current AD member I'll give it a chance before getting pissed (again). If the new AD keeps Benford that will be a MAJOR strike against him/her, and a probable sign they don't have 'it' when it comes to coach decisions.

I wish they'd use some of their money to hire more quality underlings in the athletic department, not just fund football coach, bb coach and AD at a high level.  Customer service is really in need of upgrading...hoping that they spend a bit more money for more competence.

What does "keep" Bedford mean to you? If the new AD let's Bedford coach this season or if he signs a new contract?

That depends on the timing of the hire, if it's not until late August the new AD might not have much of a choice...
