Won't every game be on ESPN 3?

Only if the schools have ESPN level broadcasting abilities.

So what would that mean for us?  I haven't heard anything on that yet.

I don't know where NT is in regards to being ready to have those capabilities but in terms of away games it means all of our conference members must meet ESPN's minimum requirements in order for the game to be broadcasted via ESPN3.

I always thought Apogee was capable of handling all broadcasts?

It is but I think the schools would be solely responsible for broadcast whether it's bringing in a 3rd party or handling the broadcast themselves.  Normally when Fox or ESPN came in to cover a game they brought in their own broadcasting crew to handle the game.

It is.  It's a fantastic venue for broadcasting.  It was designed to be that way.

It is, and that is why our tv games are almost always AT Apogee and not away games.

Seriously? ESPN handles all our E3 football and a very very limited select number of E3 hoops games. Having ESPN standards production isn't a concern except for extra hoops games, baseball and volleyball. We get real ESPN employees who pop up SECN and ESPN college tournament broadcasts unless we do them ourself then we have to hire announcers.

@VideoEagle outlined some of the changes we need.  It mostly had to do with cameras and editing equipment as I recall.  Assuming our radio broadcast can double as the TV announcers then I think video eagle outline $300-$500k in equipment in order for us to be able to send all our games to ESPN3.  I have no idea how much work our fellow conference mates have to do.  I remember reading that the MAC teams had to make quite an investment and that a few still have not made the necessary upgrades.

Hopefully the conference agreed to a deadline for all schools to be ready.

Are you trying to call out LATech's crappy stadium?

I think you are.

Makes sense too...  Their entire school is one giant armpit.

It sounds like to keep costs down ESPN wants the schools to handle everything and then ESPN just rebroadcast the signal.

Yes.  Exact same situation as the MAC and the AAC.

ETA: But also stream it.

The message is pretty clear, CUSA teams need to start scheduling more P5 teams at home if we want to be on major TV, and have TV contracts that actually pay a reasonable amount.
