6'5" 215 lbs it looks like he has finished his degree and will be enrolling in the Fall.  I am still digging.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Agreed like the size, mobility, a few of his clips show him going through his reads, and has an arm.

Not just an arm (what's his name had one too) but the touch to go with it. I could see this guy getting some playing time if he adapts to new receivers quickly.

I tjink we were very thin once you got past Morris and Shanbour.  Means just hasn't developed and Chumley needs to be moved. I think this also reveals plans to redshirt Fine.

I think Fine was going to be red-shirted no matter what just for him to bulk up even more and get used to the speed of the game since he is coming from OK2A i believe. I'm wondering if we would RS either Shanbour or this kid possibly, but I'm doubting it.

I think we need Shanbour this fall with the JC recruit being insurance if either he or Morris get injured or otherwise fail to produce. With this we get the best of both worlds, a quality back-up and competition for the following year.

Competition is a good thing.  May the best man win.   That said with Fine coming in, something's gotta give or someone has to change positions.   You can't have 6 qb's on the roster.

Harry, after a 1-11 record last season, and seeing the numbers our quarterback corps put up, 6 QB's on the 2016 roster, and many new, is not a bad thing.

I expect Means to be somewhere else come fall semester.

Chumbley is on his way to the TE position.

I expect 4 QBs by opening of Fall practice.

Plus, Shanbour is technically still a walkon. With QB, you always have to project your QB depth years in advance. That always bit Mccarney and crew in the rear. What do you mean we were supposed to be developing our own QBs?

Who do we have at QB for 2017? Before we got this dude, Fine was our only current scholarship QB you really expect to be in the mix by then. I'm still thinking it's likely we get a high school QB and a grad transfer/JUCO this upcoming class. Future of our QB position still needs a lot of work.

I don't know where else Means can fit on the team... i think he may be on his way out of town if he still wants to play ball that is.

Means is just a RS SO.  It would not be unheard of for it to take him another year to figure it out.  He is very athletic.

While the air raid does not have a TE per se, it does have outside WR and inside WR.  So far it looks like one of our IWR will be a smaller slot type and one will be a bigger possession type receiver where an undersized (by typically measurements) TE would fit in nicely.  Means seems like a decent fit for that type of role if he doesn't stick with QB.

yeah, i just see dillman, chumley, and Smith (kelvin) as better options at that position. I think Means is a good athlete from what I have seen but just doesnt seem to excel in any one way that would b=make him particularly suited for any given position. Not really big, not really fast, doesn't have great bend, or burst, IDK what his hands are like but as a qb he probably has a better than average understanding of what the O is trying to accomplish and that alone can give an edge.

By somewhere else, I meant an FCS school.

With this being said... Do we think Chumbley can convert to TE?

Means leaving under his own will, or us cut him? If we cut him, I'm assuming no impact besides the negative impact that it would have with some players/HS staffs?

I see zero need/benefit in cutting a current scholarship player at this point.  Plenty have already left/got left.  I don't see how the 85 total scholarship number is in jeopardy in preventing us to be able to sign a full 25 anytime soon.

At least, that is the way it feels.  Means seemed to have some athletic ability.  I am ok with letting him keep maturing and see if something develops at QB or another position.

This then maybe a very stupid question... But if Chumbley was a 3-Star TE, why convert him to QB when Dillman I believe was a 3-star QB and we moved him to TE? I'm not sure how our old staff lasted as long as they did, and how did they make it to bowl game lol.

Chumley played QB at his high school.  He rejected several FBS offers to play TE so he could play QB here.   He needs to be a TE.

Dillman was dq'd at Guyer because the UIL thought he moved there to play football, and would have sat behind Heard and Robinson anyway...  hence the 'QB Guru' (who's 'recreational activities' could be compared to McCarney's) said he's a TE.   He can probably play TE, but I wish he would get a shot at QB.
