Got the regular email from the MGC. The renewal deadline is June 30 and you will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Here is an excerpt:

Other Prizes Include: 4 club seats to a mutually agreed upon game, 2 on-field passes for 1st quarter of mutually agreed upon game, and a mini-helmet signed by Coach Seat Littrell

The snake eventually dies.  When you cut the head off of a rattlesnake I promise you you won't want to pick the head  up for a while because it will still try to bite the crap out of you.  Just saying.

The other day I got 2 letters from the athletic department. The first one I opened thanked me for renewing my Mean Green Club membership and season tickets at the Spring Game. I thought the second one would be a copy of my receipt or something. No, it was a reminder for me to renew my tickets before the June deadline. Again, I got both on the same exact day, about a month after I had already renewed everything at the Spring Game. I had to call and get it straightened out.

We have poor communication within the athletic department, and at best minimal oversight of the various operations. This has been a problem for years. I desperately hope the new AD quickly fixes this issue.

After today's email was received, I went online and checked my account to be sure my renewal was on record. It was. I wouldn't risk stirring the pot and ending up FUBAR.

The problem is that we aren't dealing with idiot or unaware bulk mail consumers here. We as a consumer group are savvy enough to catch these basic issues and they make a difference.   We aren't talking about rocket science here.   People in the AD have just stopped caring (to be expected I guess?). 

The problem is with each of these customer service issues we are chipping away at our fan support that we so desperately need.

I believe the President should formally introduce an interim ad to handle these types of issues before things get out of control.  Things can't continue to deteriorate like this so close to the start of the season.  

Either we have fired our AD office and are ready to start doing things differently or we just wanted to make a problem go away.  We don't seem to currently have a good plan on how to really hire and oversee a new AD office. I'm uncomfortable with the silence out of the President's office.

Agreed. 

Someone should have the simple responsibility added to their job description of proofreading sent mail/e-mail/fliers/etc.

I was pretty critical of the Pres, but am pleasantly surprised he got it done when it comes to RV.

I'm back in the 'trust' camp for the time being.

Pretty much agree. I was beginning to think he was going to be part of the problem. Now I'm beginning to think that it is just his management style to keep a low profile. The wheels seem to turn pretty slow in our organization (Baylor is another example) but apparently decisions do get made. The total silence for months made for uncomfortable thoughts and speculation.

Because we all know there is no chance you could get anything straightened out via online or email. I bet you the athletic department still has an active telegraph in use to communicate...

I try to do as much online as I can because I've found that dealing with them on the phone just gets me transferred around the office in a virulent silo mentality "Not my job" environment.  Of course, then the website didn't exactly work this year.  I finally got it in time to be eligible for whatever prizes, and I keep redundant upon redundant paper trails of every dime I send because getting my money misappropriated once was enough.
