I wonder if anyone will take a chance on him like Petrino. It is clear that excluding the off the field stuff, he may the best on-field football coach in college football.

I don't know man -- an affair with a coed is one thing... turning a blind eye to rape, that's just about as bad as it gets. Baylor needs to lawyer up because his career may be over and he will want restitution for that.

Yeah, I would just retire and enjoy the contract payout if I were him. I didn't realize he's 60.

In a few years, a program will hire him again and he will do his thing again. This industry can be quite forgiving given time.

But, this is something that had to be done. Briles didn't deal with the conduct of his players as he should have. And, if he really 'didn't know' then it shows he had a lack of institutional control. Either way, it wasn't good.

Arkansas did this when they fired Bobby Petrino well into the off season they named an interim coach for the season and then hired the former Wisconsin head coach.

I read Phil Bennett will be named interim. It would be smart to keep him and the staff together for the year. Then clean house in the off season.

Well, I eat crow on this one as I didn't think Baylor had the stones to fire Briles. SMoo will get a kick out of Phil Bennett being named interim head coach.
